Takayuki Fujikawa
was a Japanese football player. Playing career Fujikawa was born in Kawasaki on October 10, 1962. He joined Japan Soccer League club Yomiuri (later ''Verdy Kawasaki'') from youth team in 1981. He played many matches as goalkeeper in 1985–86 season. After that, he battles with Shinkichi Kikuchi for the position for a long time. In 1992, Japan Soccer League was folded and founded new league J1 League. However his opportunity to play decreased behind Kikuchi. He retired end of 1995 season. Coaching career After retirement, Fujikawa started coaching career at Verdy Kawasaki in 1996. He served goalkeeper coach until 2000. From 2001, he coached at many J.League clubs, Vissel Kobe (2001–2004), Vegalta Sendai (2005), Cerezo Osaka (2007) and Avispa Fukuoka (2008–2009). JSL Cup
was the original league cup for clubs in the top levels of Japanese soccer before the creation of the J. League and its cup. The cup was first played in 1973, but did not become an annual tournament until 1976. The JSL/JFL Cup included clubs from both the First Division and the Second Division. The format varied; sometimes the clubs played small group stages, other times it was an outright elimination, including only the clubs that were not recent promotions to the Second Division. Shinkichi Kikuchi
is a former Japanese football player. He played for Japan national team. His younger brother Toshimi is also a former footballer. Club career Kikuchi was born in Tono on April 12, 1967. After graduating from high school, he joined Japan Soccer League club Yomiuri (later ''Verdy Kawasaki'', ''Tokyo Verdy'') in 1986. The club won league champions 3 times, JSL Cup 1 time and Emperor's Cup 2 times. In Asia, the club also won 1987 Asian Club Championship. In 1992, Japan Soccer League was folded and founded new league J1 League. The club won the league champions in 1993 and 1994. The club also won 1992, 1993, 1994 J.League Cup and 1996 Emperor's Cup. 1991 Emperor's Cup
The 71st Emperor's Cup was held from December 14, 1991, to January 1, 1992. It was the last cup involving clubs from the old Japan Soccer League before it was reorganized into the J.League. The tournament was won by Nissan Motors, now known as Yokohama F. Marinos. Emperor's Cup
, commonly known as or also Japan FA Cup is a Japanese football competition. It has the longest tradition of any football match in Japan, dating back to 1921, before the formation of the J.League, Japan Football League and their predecessor, Japan Soccer League. Before World War II, teams could qualify not only from Japan proper but also from Empire of Japan's former-colonies such as Korea, Taiwan, and sometimes Manchukuo. The winning club qualifies for the AFC Champions League and the Japanese Super Cup. The women's equivalent to this tournament is the Empress's Cup. Ventforet Kofu is the current winners, having won its first title in the 2022 final.
