Tajpur Port
Tajpur Port is a proposed greenfield deep-sea port in Tajpur, East Midnapore district, West Bengal. The port will be built on the coast of Bay of Bengal near Tajpur. The construction of the port was awarded to the Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited in September, 2022. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee handed over Letter of Intent (LoI) to build the port to Karan Adani, son of Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani, at the "Bijaya Sammelani" organized on October 12, 2022 at Eco Park, New Town, Kolkata. After the construction of the port, it will be the first deep-sea port in West Bengal. It is estimated that the port will be constructed at a cost of ₹25,000 crores ($3.1 billion) . A statement from the state government estimated that the port's net draft with tidal support would be around 16 meters, allowing Cape-sized vessels with DWT (deadweight tonnage) of 100,000 tonnes to enter the proposed port. Tajpur Union
Tajpur Union ( bn, তাজপুর ইউনিয়ন) is a Union Parishad under Osmani Nagar Upazila of Sylhet District in the division of Sylhet, Bangladesh. It has an area of 12 square kilometres and a population of 58,679. History Tajpur was previously part of historic Gauharpur in Aurangapur Pargana. In the mid-14th century, following the Conquest of Gour in 1303, disciples of Shah Jalal such as Shah Tajuddin settled and propagated Islam in Tajpur, whom it is named after today. In 1987, the union's first ever high school, Muhammad Nur Miah Girls' High School, was opened allowing girls to study at a further level. Thirteen years later, its second high school, KMGD, was opened. Tajpur Union was first a part of Balaganj Upazila. Osmani Nagar thana was established on 23 March 2001, with Tajpur joining it. Tajpur, West Bengal
Tajpur is located in Purba Medinipur, in the state of West Bengal, India on the shore of Bay of Bengal (near Digha). Tajpur is set between Mandarmani and Shankarpur. Tajpur is 172.9 km via NH16 and NH116B from the state capital Kolkata. It is located under Contai Sub division area. Tajpur has also around 1400 acres of land dedicated to Pisciculture. There are a number of bheris or fish-ponds in the area. As a tourist attraction, it is relatively new as there are fewer hotels compared to Digha and Mandarmani. The beach is clean and home to numerous red crabs. The Government of West Bengal and Central Government decided to build the Tajpur Port in the area. Sylhet District
Sylhet ( bn, সিলেট), located in north-east Bangladesh, is the divisional capital and one of the four districts in the Sylhet Division. History Sylhet district was established on 3 January 1782, and until 1878 it was part of Bengal Province under Dhaka Division.
