Taipei Private Yan Ping High School
Taipei Private Yan Ping High School () is located in Daan District, Taipei City, Taiwan. History Founding and the February 28 Incident Soon after the end of World War II and the Japanese colonial period, Zhu Zhao-yang (), who was serving in ''Ōkura-shō'', the present Ministry of Finance of Japan, and lawyer Song Chin-ying () returned to Taiwan in the hope of improving the standard of education in their homeland. The two planned to establish a "university" and — on the suggestion of the invited chair, Lin Hsien-tang — named the institution "Yan Ping", a dedication to the famous general of the Ming Dynasty, Koxinga. The school opened as a college with only two departments — economics and law. The opening ceremony was held on the campus of Kainan Commercial High School on October 10, 1946, and was lit by only one small electric bulb. Daan District (or Da-an District, Da'an, United States National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency District) is an important educational, commercial, residential and cultural district of Taipei City, Republic of China (Taiwan). The name of the district means "great safety" or "great peace". History The district is named after Daiwan village () that was once located near the intersection of present-day Xinyi Road and Fuxing S. Road. Henry Kao
Henry Kao or Kao Yu-shu (; 3 September 1913 – 15 June 2005) was a Taiwanese politician. He served as Mayor of Taipei from 1954 to 1957 and again between 1964 and 1972, when he was named Minister of Transportation and Communications. Kao remained a public servant for the rest of his life, as minister without portfolio until 1989, then presidential adviser until his death. Education Kao studied engineering at Waseda University in Japan. In 1999, he was the 55th person and first Taiwanese to receive an honorary doctorate from Waseda University. Chthonic (band)
Chthonic (sometimes typeset ChthoniC or ChThoniC) is a Taiwanese heavy metal band, formed in 1995 in Taipei. They have been called "the Black Sabbath of Asia." The group incorporates influences from traditional Taiwanese music, including adaptations of folk songs and the use of traditional instruments, most notably the erhu (often called the ''hiân-á'' [] in the band's native Taiwanese Hokkien). Freddy Lim Tshiong-tso (; Tâi-lô: ''Lîm Tshióng-tsò''; born 1 February 1976) is a Taiwanese politician, musician, and independence activist. He is the lead vocalist of the Taiwanese heavy-metal band Chthonic. and the lead vocalist of the band started by him and American guitarist Marty Friedman. Wu Nien-jen (; born ; 5 August 1952) is a Taiwanese screenwriter, Film director, director, and writer. Justin Chou
Chou Shou-hsun (; born 27 August 1966) is a Taiwanese politician who served in the Legislative Yuan from 2005 to 2012. He is known in English as Justin Chou. Tina Pan (; born 31 March 1957) is a Taiwanese politician. She was a member of the Legislative Yuan from 1993 to 2002 and again between 2005 and 2016.
