Tabu (2012 Film)
''Tabu'' is a 2012 Portuguese independent black-and-white drama film directed by Miguel Gomes, the title of which references F. W. Murnau's silent film of the same name. Miguel Gomes (born 1972) is a Portuguese film director. He studied cinema at Lisbon Theatre and Film School (Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema). Biography Trained at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema (Superior School of Theatre and Film Lisbon), Gomes worked initially as a film critic and author of theoretical writings on cinema. Manoel Cândido Pinto de Oliveira (; 11 December 1908 – 2 April 2015) was a Portuguese film director and screenwriter born in Cedofeita, Porto. He first began making films in 1927, when he and some friends attempted to make a film about World War I. In 1931 he completed his first film '' Douro, Faina Fluvial'', a documentary about his home city Porto made in the city symphony genre. The Quad Cinema is New York City's first small four-screen multiplex theater.
