The TU Delft Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management is a faculty for graduation and post-graduation studies in Technology, Policy and Management of the Delft University of Technology. Through internationally oriented education and research the faculty want to contribute with "sustainable solutions to complexity, complex social problems". The research of the faculty focuses on "large scale socio-technical systems, such as infrastructures for Logistics, transport, energy and telecommunication". History The faculty started in 1997 from a merger between the two existing faculties of the Delft University of Technology at the time: ''Technology and Society'' and ''Systems Engineering, Policy Analysis and Management''. Technology assessment (TA, German: , French: ) is a scientific, interactive, and communicative process that aims to contribute to the formation of public and political opinion on societal aspects of science and technology. This is a means of assessing and rating the new technology from the time when it was first developed to the time when it is potentially accepted by the public and authorities for further use. Rene Wagenaar
René Wijnand Wagenaar (1954 – February 25, 2007) was a Dutch academic, and Professor of Information and Communication Technology at the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management of the Delft University of Technology, known for his work on Modular Network Design and shared service centers. Biography Born in Amsterdam, Wagenaar obtained his BSc in economics from the Free University Amsterdam, and his PhD in experimental physics from the University of Amsterdam in 1984 with the thesis, entitled "Small angle elastic scattering of electrons by noble gas atom." Jeroen Van Den Hoven
Jeroen van den Hoven (born 1957 in Rotterdam) is a Dutch ethicist and a philosophy professor at Delft University of Technology. He specializes in ethics of information technology. Work Van den Hoven has written and worked with a range of scholars including Seumas Miller, Thomas Pogge, Martha Nussbaum and John Weckert. Ernst Ten Heuvelhof
Ernst Frederik ten Heuvelhof (born 1954 in Rotterdam) is a Dutch organizational theorist, and professor of public administration at the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management of Delft University of Technology, and professor of public administration at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He is known for his work on process management, policy analysis and complex decision making. Dirk Helbing
Dirk Helbing (born January 19, 1965) is Professor of Computational Social Science at the Department of Humanities, Social and Political Sciences and affiliate of the Computer Science Department at ETH Zurich. Biography Dirk Helbing studied physics and mathematics at the University of Göttingen. He completed his doctoral thesis at Stuttgart University, on modeling social processes by means of game-theoretical approaches, stochastic methods, and complex systems theory. In 1996, he completed further studies on traffic dynamics and optimization.
