T. J. Ryan (hurler)
T. J. Ryan (born 12 November 1974) is an Irish hurling selector and player. He is a former manager of the Limerick senior hurling team. Born in Garryspillane, County Limerick, Ryan first arrived on the inter-county scene when he first linked up with the Limerick minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 1994 championship. Ryan played a key role for Limerick for over a decade and won two Munster medals and one National Hurling League medal. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions. As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions, Ryan won two Railway Cup medals in 2000 and 2001. At club level he is a one-time championship medallist with Garryspillane. Throughout his inter-county career Ryan made 40 championship appearances for Limerick. Tom Dempsey (hurler)
Thomas Dempsey (born 1965) is a retired Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Buffer's Alley and with the Wexford senior inter-county team from 1984 until 2000. Playing career Club Dempsey played his club hurling with the famous Buffer's Alley GAA club and enjoyed much success. He first came to prominence on the club's senior team in the early 1980s as the team was in the middle of completing a four in-a-row of county championship titles between 1982 and 1985. This last county title was later converted into a Leinster club title for Dempsey, but his side was beaten by Kilruane MacDonagh's of Tipperary in the All-Ireland final. 1988 saw Dempsey won another county title before later adding a second Leinster club medal to his collection. Once again Buffer's Alley reached the All-Ireland final, this time with O’Donovan Rossa of Antrim providing the opposition. Ciarán Carey
Ciarán Carey (born 16 January 1970) is an Irish former hurling manager, selector and player. Primarily playing at the centre-back position, Carey's club career was with Patrickswell and at inter-county level with Limerick. He was a key member of the latter team during the 1990s and collected two Munster titles, two National Hurling League titles and three All-Star awards. In retirement from playing Carey has become involved in team management and coaching. At club level he has taken charge of the Tournafulla and Granagh-Ballingarry sides in hurling and camogie respectively. Carey began his inter-county coaching career when he was appointed manager of the Limerick senior camogie team in 2007. Liam MacCarthy Cup
The Liam MacCarthy Cup is a trophy awarded annually by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) to the team that wins the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the main competition in the prehistoric sport of hurling. Based on the design of a medieval drinking vessel, the trophy was first awarded in 1923 to the winners of the (delayed) 1921 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final. The original 1920s trophy was retired in the 1990s, with a new identical trophy awarded annually since 1992. The original trophy is on permanent display in the GAA Museum at Croke Park in Dublin. The GAA organises the series of games, which are played during the summer months. Johnny Dooley
Johnny Dooley (born 7 October 1971 in Clareen, County Offaly) is an Irish former hurling manager and player. He played hurling with his local club Clareen GAA and was a member of the Offaly senior inter-county team from 1991 until 2002. Dooley served as manager of the Westmeath senior inter-county team from 2007 until 2008. Early life Johnny Dooley was born just outside Clareen, County Offaly in 1971. He was born into a family that was steeped in hurling history. His father's uncle, Tom Dooley, as well as his mother's father and uncle had all played with Offaly in the junior All-Ireland finals in 1929 and 1923 respectively.
