T. A. Sinnathuray
Prof. Datuk Dr. Thirunavuk Arasu Sinnathuray, better known as T.A. Sinnathuray (c. 1933- 1997), was a Malaysian obstetrician and gynaecologist. He was the first Malaysian doctor to possess both the diplomas of MRCOG (Member of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology ) and the FRCS (Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons). Career He practised as an obstetrician at Kandang Kerbau Hospital (Singapore). He was Honorary Secretary of the Singapore Medical Association (SMA) (6th council) in 1966/67. He delivered the 4th Galloway Memorial Lecture (Singapore Academy of Medicine) on ''Amniotomy in the Treatment of Placental Insufficiency Syndrome'' in 1964. Sinnathuray was appointed Professor and Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya in 1970 and remained in office till 1986. Universiti Sains Malaysia ( 'Science University of Malaysia'; abbreviated as USM) is a public research university in Malaysia. Founded on 1 June 1969 as a statutory body with its own constitution, it is among the oldest institutes of higher learning in Northern Malaysia. It has three campuses: a main campus on the island of Penang, a health campus in Kelantan, and an engineering campus in Nibong Tebal. Awang Hassan
Tun Dr. Awang bin Hassan ( ms, اواڠ بن حسن, label= Jawi, script=arab, italic=unset; 9 November 1910 – 12 September 1998) was a Malaysian politician who served as the 5th Yang di-Pertua Negeri (Governor) of Penang from 1981 until his retirement in 1989. He had previously served as the 7th Malaysian High Commissioner to Australia from 1973 to 1980. Education He received his early education at Sekolah Bukit Zahrah in Johor Bahru and later at the English College Johore Bahru.
