T.Rex (band)
T. Rex (originally Tyrannosaurus Rex) were an English rock band, formed in 1967 by singer-songwriter and guitarist Marc Bolan, who was their leader, frontman and only consistent member. Though initially associated with the psychedelic folk genre, Bolan began to change the band's style towards electric rock in 1969, and shortened their name to T. Rex the following year. This development culminated in 1970 with their first hit single " Ride a White Swan", and the group soon became pioneers of the glam rock movement. From 1970 to 1973, T. Rex encountered a popularity in the UK comparable to that of the Beatles, with a run of eleven singles in the UK top ten. They scored four UK number one hits, " Hot Love", " Get It On", " Telegram Sam" and " Metal Guru". The band's 1971 album ''Electric Warrior'' received critical acclaim, reached number 1 in the UK and became a landmark album in glam rock. Bill Legend
Bill Legend (born William Arthur Fifield, 8 May 1944, Barking, London, Barking, Essex, England) is an English musician and former drummer for glam rock band T. Rex (band), T. Rex during their most successful period. Biography One of three children, Legend worked as a commercial artist after leaving school, while playing the drums in a variety of bands. He was drumming under his real name for a group called "Legend", fronted by Mickey Jupp, when Marc Bolan, the man behind the new-found success of T. Rex, spotted him and asked producer Tony Visconti to approach him. Legend agreed to join T. Rex, immediately buying a number of the band's albums from their days as T. Steve Peregrin Took (born Stephen Ross Porter; 28 July 1949 – 27 October 1980) was an English musician and songwriter, best known for his membership of the duo Tyrannosaurus Rex with Marc Bolan. After breaking with Bolan, he concentrated on his own singer-songwriting activities, either as a solo artist or as a frontman for several bands. Richard Anthony Newman (born 17 March 1943) is an English rock drummer. He was at various times a member of the bands Sounds Incorporated, May Blitz, Three Man Army, T. Rex, and Boxer. He has performed with Little Richard, Jeff Beck, David Bowie, George Harrison, Robert Palmer, Eric Clapton, Donovan, Mick Ronson, Gene Vincent, Crystal Gayle, the Everly Brothers and others. In 1965, Newman played with Sounds Incorporated as one of the acts opening for the Beatles at Shea Stadium in New York. Miller Anderson (musician)
Miller Anderson (born 12 April 1945) is a UK-based blues guitarist and singer. He worked extensively with Ian Hunter in the formative years of the 1960s, before either of them achieved significant success. They worked in bands such as the Scenery and At Last The 1958 Rock 'n' Roll Show (later called Charlie Woolfe) and Anderson is referenced in the title track of Hunter's 1976 album ''All American Alien Boy'' ("well I remember all the good times me and Miller enjoyed, up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy"). Anderson would later guest on two Hunter solo albums. Apart from pursuing his solo career, he was a member of the Keef Hartley Band. Dino Dines
Peter Leslie "Dino" Dines (17 December 1944 – 28 January 2004) was a British keyboard player, best known for his work as a member of T-Rex. Dines was also a member of Apostolic Intervention and the Keef Hartley Band. Career Early Dines was a member of Apostolic Intervention alongside future Humble Pie/Syd Barrett drummer Jerry Shirley. Their song " (Tell Me) Have You Ever Seen Me" was donated by future Humble Pie frontman Steve Marriott. Later, Dines played in the Keef Hartley Band, fronted by his future T-Rex bandmate Miller Anderson, also contributing keyboards to Anderson's first solo album, "Bright City".
