T-Slam
T-Slam (also Tislam, Hebrew: תיסלם) was an influential Israeli rock band, founded in 1980 by Dani Bassan, Izhar Ashdot and Yair Nitzani. The band dissolved on October 23, 1983, but has reunited at least three times since then. History T-Slam began in 1980 with the collaboration of Danni Bassan (vocalist), Izhar Ashdot (guitarist) and Yair Nitzani (keyboardist). In 1981, with the addition of another guitarist, Yoshi Sadeh, the band recorded its first song, "Tnu Li Rokenrol" ("''Give Me Rock N' Roll''"), in the Israeli Army Radio studios, and released their first album, ''Radio Hazak'' ("''Loud Radio''"), titled after their hit single. They released their second album, ''T-Slam2'' (תיסלם2), a year after, having enlarged their band with drummer Sami Avzardel and bassist Tzuf Philosof. Yair Nitzani
Yair Nitzani ( he, יָאִיר נִיצָּנִי; born August 22, 1958) is an Israeli musician, songwriter, TV host and comedian. Early life Yair Nitzani was born in Beersheba in 1958. He is of Italian-Jewish descent. After serving in the Israel Defense Forces as a broadcaster on Galei Zahal in the 1980s, he joined the rock group T-Slam as a keyboardist and songwriter. Nitzani wrote some of the band's most famous songs, among them "Radio Chazak" (Loud Radio), "Partzufa Shel HaMdina" (The Country's Face), "Tnu Li Rokenrol" (Give Me Rock n' Roll), "Od Pgisha" (Another Date) "Chatzavim Porchim" (The Sea Squills are Blooming), and LirOt Ota Hayom (See Her Today). His identifying mark in the band was a faucet glued to his forehead. Izhar Ashdot
Izhar Ashdot ( he, יזהר אשדות; born 23 November 1958) is an Israeli singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer. He is a co-founding member of the Israeli rock band T-Slam. Early life When he was eleven, Ashdot started to play the guitar, two years later he founded his first group, "The Red Dogs". In 1977 he was recruited to the Israel Defense Forces Radio as a music programming editor, while simultaneously he worked on his own music and recorded the song "Me'uma Lo Kara" (Nothing Happened) which eventually became T-slam's biggest hit, retitled "Lir'ot Ota Haiom" (See Her Today) . While working for the Army Radio he met Yair Nitzani and Dani Bassan, and together they formed a Disco company and played as DJs in parties. Antonio Danny Bassan ( he, דני בסן; born December 5, 1955) is an Israeli musician. Biography When aged 18, he was recruited to the Israeli Air Force Band. Bassan was known as a member of the band T-Slam, and was main vocalist in it until its disbandment in 1983. In 1985 Bassan released a self-titled album. His second album, ''HaYeled Shebi'' (The Kid Inside Me), was released in 1989. This album included the song ''Darkenu'' (Our Way, דרכינו) which later became a hit, as a theme for the Israeli TV-show ''HaBurganim''. In 1992, his last album was released, ''Chalom Shiheha''. Israeli rock ( he, רוק ישראלי, ''Rok Yisra'eli'') is rock music created by Israeli bands and singers. History 1960s Israel's initial attitude toward rock music was extremely negative. Rami Fortis ( he, רמי פורטיס, , born July 7, 1954), or simply Fortis, is an Israeli rock singer. Born in Tel Aviv, Fortis became known as a pioneer of Israeli punk rock. His debut album ''Plonter'', released in 1978, was not a commercial success at the time, though today it is considered an influential cult album. His fame in Israel came with the release of a Hebrew language album, ''Sipurim Me'hakufsa (Tales from the Box)'', in 1988. Due to his behaviour on stage he was nicknamed The Madman (HaMeshuga).
