Sørlandet (newspaper)
''Sørlandet'' (lit. " Southern Norway") was a Norwegian newspaper, published in Kristiansand in Vest-Agder county. ''Sørlandets Social-Democrat'' was started on 5 January 1907, after a trisal issue on 21 December 1906, as a Labour Party newspaper. It was weekly from the start, but daily from 1909. The name was changed to ''Sørlandet'' from 30 April 1923. The change followed a letter in 1922 from the Comintern Executive which stated that no newspaper should have "Social Democrat" or "Democrat" in its title. The breakthrough came in 1927, when, after years of turbulence in the labour movement, the Labour Party absorbed the Social Democratic Labour Party. Four years later a former Communist became the newspaper's editor. Notable editors were Ole Øisang (1920–1925), Olav Scheflo (1931–1939) and Odd Lien (1956-1977). Jakob Friis also contributed. Southern Norway
Southern Norway ( no, Sørlandet; lit. "The Southland") is the geographical region (''landsdel'') along the Skagerrak coast of southern Norway. The region is an informal description since it does not have any governmental function. It roughly corresponds to the old petty kingdom of Agder as well as the two former counties of Vest-Agder and Aust-Agder. From New Year 2020, the two counties have been merged into one county, Agder. The total combined area of Vest-Agder and Aust-Agder counties is . The name is relatively new, having first been used in Norway around 1900. The region includes coastal areas along the Skagerrak and extends inland to the Setesdalsheiene mountains. There are many large valleys running from the mountains to the south and east to the sea. Trygve Hegnar (born 6 October 1943) is a Norway, Norwegian businessperson, investor and chief editor of the business magazines ''Kapital (magazine), Kapital'' and ''Finansavisen'', founded by Hegnar himself in 1971 and 1992 respectively.
