Séamus Qualter
Séamus Qualter (born 1967) is an Irish former hurler and hurling manager. Born in Turloughmore, County Galway, Qualter played competitive hurling in his youth. At club level he is a one-time Connacht medallist with Turlougmore. In addition to this he also won one championship medal with the club. He managed Westmeath to the inaugural ChristyRing Cup triumph in 2005. That same year he was coach and manager of the Irish Shinty team when they played Scotland in Inverness. In 2006 Westmeath defeated Dublin in the Leinster Senior hurling quarter final, and he managed the team against Brian Cody's Kilkenny in the semi-final in Mullingar. Westmeath lost the game 1–23 to 1-7 attended by 8,500, a record for a Westmeath hurling game. He repeated his Christy Ring success in 2007 when Westmeath defeated Kildare in the final. Turloughmore GAA
Turloughmore GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Turloughmore, County Galway, Ireland. The club is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. Overview History Hurling had been played in the parish of Lackagh long before the establishment of the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1884. The formation of the Irish National League in 1882 as a follow-up to the Land League, resulted in the setting up of a branch of the Gaelic Athletic Association being formed in the parish on 14 May 1886, which led to organised hurling games under proper rules. Nottingham Rugby
Nottingham Rugby Club is a rugby union club based in Nottingham, England. The club's first team currently plays in the RFU Championship, the second tier of English Rugby. The first XV are nicknamed The Archers, in reference to the famous Robin Hood. Now situated in the Lady Bay area of Nottingham, the club was formerly based at Meadow Lane, the home ground of Notts County F.C. Turloughmore Hurlers
Turloughmore ( ; ) is a village in County Galway, Ireland. The name means "the large lake," a notable feature of the area, together with the Clare River (''Abhainn an Chláir''). Turloughmore lies on the N63 national secondary road. It is a small village consisting of two petrol stations, three pubs and the base of a bus service company. Turloughmore was designated as a census town by the Central Statistics Office for the first time in the 2016 census, at which time it had a population of 240 people. The village was once known for the horse fair held there, and for the faction-fighting that occurred at the fair (see John Callaghan (Galway)). Justin Campbell (hurler)
Justin Campbell (born 1970) is an Irish former hurler who played as a centre-forward at senior level for the Galway county team. Career Born in Kiltormer, County Galway, Campbell first arrived on the inter-county scene when he first linked up with the Galway minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He joined the senior panel for the 1992 championship. Campbell went on to play a key role for Galway for the rest of the decade, however, he won few trophies. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. At club level Campbell is a one-time All-Ireland medallist with Kiltormer. In addition to this he also won two Connacht medals and two championship medals. In retirement from playing Campbell has become involved in team management and coaching. He was appointed manager of the Roscommon senior hurling team in 2013. In 2015 he led Roscommon to a second Nicky Rackard Cup title. He was later appointed manager of the Connachat hurling team. Tom Ryan (Limerick Hurler)
Tom Ryan (born 1944 in Ballybrown, County Limerick, Ireland) is an Irish former hurling manager and player. He played hurling with his local club Ballybrown and was a member of the Limerick senior inter-county team from 1973 until 1976. Ryan later served as manager of both the Limerick and Westmeath senior inter-county teams. Playing career Club Ryan played his club hurling with his local club in Ballybrown. Inter-county Ryan began his playing career with Limerick in the 1960s and went on as a substitute for Bernie Hartigan in the 1973 All Ireland Final which Limerick won, beating Kilkenny by 1–21 to 1–14. He started the 1974 All Ireland final as a right half back but Limerick were beaten by Kilkenny 3–19 to 1–13. He also won a National Hurling League as a player in 1971. Johnny Dooley
Johnny Dooley (born 7 October 1971 in Clareen, County Offaly) is an Irish former hurling manager and player. He played hurling with his local club Clareen GAA and was a member of the Offaly senior inter-county team from 1991 until 2002. Dooley served as manager of the Westmeath senior inter-county team from 2007 until 2008. Early life Johnny Dooley was born just outside Clareen, County Offaly in 1971. He was born into a family that was steeped in hurling history. His father's uncle, Tom Dooley, as well as his mother's father and uncle had all played with Offaly in the junior All-Ireland finals in 1929 and 1923 respectively. Similarly, for almost two decades Johnny and his brothers Billy and Joe formed the backbone of the Offaly senior hurling team.
