Séamus Plunkett
Séamus "Cheddar" Plunkett (born 1961) is an Irish former hurler who played as a full-forward for the senior Laois county team. Plunkett made his first appearance for the team during the 1980-81 National League and was a semi-regular member of the starting fifteen until he left the panel after the 1988 championship. During that time he had little success. At club level Plunkett is a seven-time county club championship medalist with Portlaoise. In retirement from playing Plunkett became involved in team management. He served as a selector and manager with Portlaoise and various Laois underage teams, before first taking over as manager of the Laois senior hurling team in 2012. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. William Maher (hurler)
William Maher (born 1979) is an Irish retired hurler, and current manager and coach. Maher is a former manager of the Tipperary under-21 hurling team from November 2015 until July 2017. Born in Ballingarry, County Tipperary, Maher first played competitive hurling whilst at school in St. Kieran's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Tipperary minor team, before later lining out with the under-21 side. He played a number of games at senior level during the National Hurling League, until an eye injury ended his career in 2002. At club level Maher played with Ballingarry. In retirement from playing Maher became involved in team management and coaching. He began his coaching career with club side Ballingarry before later serving as a selector with the Dublin minor team in 2008. Éamonn Kelly
Éamonn Kelly (born 1968) is an Irish hurler who played as a full-forward for the Tipperary junior hurling team. Born in Puckane, County Tipperary, Kelly first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Tipperary minor teams as a dual player, before later joining the under-21 hurling team. He joined the junior team for the 1987 championship. Kelly went on to play a key role for Tipperary over the next few years, and won one two All-Ireland medals in the junior grade. At club level Kelly played both hurling and Gaelic football with Kildangan. In retirement from playing, Kelly became involved in team management and coaching. He was an All-Ireland-winning manager with the Kildangan intermediate hurling team in 2005, as well as serving as a manager and as a selector with the Tipperary under-21 and intermediate hurling teams. Ger Cunningham (born 1972) is an Irish retired hurler who played for the Limerick minor team. Born in Knockainey, County Limerick, Cunningham first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Limerick minor team. At club level Cunningham played with Knockainey. In retirement from playing Cunningham became involved in team management and coaching. At club level he was an All-Ireland-winning coach with Newtownshandrum before steering Thurles Sarsfields to a first championship in over thirty years. Teddy McCarthy
Thaddeus "Teddy" McCarthy (born 1 July 1965) is an Irish former hurler and Gaelic footballer who played as a midfielder at senior level for the Cork county football and hurling teams. In an eleven-year senior inter-county playing career, McCarthy played for the Cork senior hurling and football teams, winning major honours with both. He is the only dual player to win All-Ireland senior hurling and football medals in a single year. McCarthy joined the Cork senior football team in 1985. Between then and 1996 he won two All-Ireland medals, six Munster medals and one All-Star. McCarthy's ten-year career with the Cork senior hurlers saw him win two All-Ireland medals, three Munster medals and one National Hurling League medal. 2013 National Hurling League
The 2013 National Hurling League commenced in February 2013. 34 GAA county hurling teams: 32 from Ireland (including Fingal but not Cavan), London and Warwickshire, contested it. On the final day of fixtures in division 1A on 31 March, all six teams had a chance of either reaching the league semi-finals, or suffering relegation. Kilkenny won the NHL, defeating Tipperary in the final by 2-17 to 0-20 in the final on 5 May in Nowlan Park. Michael Fennelly scored two goals and three points in the first half as Kilkenny led by 2-07 to 0-11. In the second half Lar Corbett and JJ Delaney were sent off in the 46th minute after they wrestled each other on the ground near the Kilkenny goal.
