Séamus Mac Gearailt
Séamus Mac Gearailt (born 1945), sometimes referred to as Séamus Fitzgerald, is an Irish retired Gaelic football trainer, coach, selector and former player. His National Football League (Ireland), league and All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, championship career with the Kerry GAA, Kerry senior team spanned twelve seasons from 1963 to 1974. Biography Mac Gearailt made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he was selected as the goalkeeper for the Kerry minor team. He enjoyed two championship seasons with the minor team, winning back-to-back All-Ireland Minor Football Championship, All0Ireland medals in 1962 and 1963. Mac Gearailt subsequently joined the Kerry under-21 team, winning an All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship, All-Ireland medal in this grade in 1965. An Ghaeltacht is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in County Kerry. The club competes in the Kerry Intermediate Football Championship. 1970 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The 1970 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 84th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament. The championship began on 10 May 1970 and ended on 27 September 1970. Kerry entered the championship as the defending champions. On 27 September 1970, Kerry won the championship following a 2-19 to 0-18 defeat of Meath in the All-Ireland final. This was their 22nd All-Ireland title, their second in succession. Meath's Tony Brennan was the championship's top scorer with 0-33. Kerry's Tom Prendergast was the choice for Texaco Footballer of the Year. Rule change As a result of a decision taken at the Gaelic Athletic Association's (GAA) annual congress the previous year, as of 1970 all provincial finals, All-Ireland semi-finals and the All-Ireland final itself were extended to 80 minutes playing time. The 1998 Bank of Ireland All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 112th edition of the GAA's premier Gaelic football competition. The championship began on 3 May 1998 and ended on 27 September 1998. Galway's 1-14 to 1-10 victory over Kildare in the All-Ireland final meant that the Sam Maguire Cup returned to the county and the province of Connacht for the first time since 1966. This was Galway's eighth All-Ireland triumph in all. The 1996 Bank of Ireland All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 110th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament. The championship began on 12 May 1996 and ended on 29 September 1996. Dublin entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Meath in the Leinster final. On 29 September 1996, Meath won the championship following a 2–9 to 1–11 defeat of Mayo in a replay of the All-Ireland final. This was their sixth All-Ireland title and their first in eight championship seasons. Mayo's Maurice Sheridan was the championship's top scorer with 1-33. The 1997 Bank of Ireland All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 111th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament. The championship began on 11 May 1997 and ended on 28 September 1997. Meath entered the championship as the defending champions; however, they were defeated by Offaly in the Leinster final. On 28 September 1997 Kerry, the most successful county in Gaelic football history, claimed their 31st All-Ireland title - and their first since 1986 - with a 0–13 to 1–7 victory over Mayo.
