Sápmi Pride
Sápmi Pride is a pride festival with Sápmi focus arranged annually since 2014. History The festival, organised by Queering Sápmi, took place for the first time in 2014 in Kiruna, in Lapland. The festival, which went on for four days, featured a performance by Sápmi singer Sofia Jannok, and a parade of 300 participants which traveled through the central city. The following year, the festival took place in Karasjok in Northern Norway. Maxida Märak performed at the festival and there were workshops with Asta Balto and Erland Elias. The fourth Sápmi pride took place in Inari in Finland in 2017, the first time the event had been held in Finnish Sápmi. The theme of the festival was generations and solidarity, and it featured discussions with journalist Martta Alajärvi, drama director Pauliina Feodoroff. Karasjok (village)
, , or is the administrative centre of Karasjok Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The village is located along both sides of the Karasjohka river, just west of the Norway-Finland border. The European route E06 highway runs through the village on its way from Lakselv to Tana bru and Kirkenes. Pride is defined by Merriam-Webster as "reasonable self-esteem" or "confidence and satisfaction in oneself". A healthy amount of pride is good, however, pride sometimes is used interchangeably with "conceit" or "arrogance" (among other words) which are negative. Oxford defines it as "the quality of having an excessively high opinion of oneself or one's own importance." Jokkmokk
Jokkmokk (; smj, Jåhkåmåhkke or ; se, Dálvvadis; fi, Jokimukka) is a locality and the seat of Jokkmokk Municipality in Norrbotten County, province of Lapland, Sweden, with 2,786 inhabitants in 2010. The Lule Sami name of the place (composed of the individual words and ) means "River's Curve," due to the meandering river that runs through it. As in other towns in Lapland, the Swedish language is dominant at an official level in Jokkmokk in modern times. The settlement is just north of the Arctic Circle. Talvatissjön is located at the southern part of Jokkmokk.
