Sándor Sík
Sándor Sík (20 January 1889 – 28 September 1963) was a Hungarian writer and priest, a representative of the New Catholic poetry in Hungary. He was a professor of literature at Szeged University from 1930; from 1948 he was the Piarist Order's highest representative in Hungary. He published the Catholic magazine ''Vigilia''. In addition to his poetry, his historical dramas and mystery plays saw success. Piarists
The Piarists (), officially named the Order of Poor Clerics Regular of the Mother of God of the Pious Schools ( la, Ordo Clericorum Regularium pauperum Matris Dei Scholarum Piarum), abbreviated SchP, is a religious order of clerics regular of the Catholic Church founded in 1617 by Spanish priest Joseph Calasanz. It is the oldest religious order dedicated to education, and the main occupation of the Piarist fathers is teaching children and youth, the primary goal being to provide free education for poor children. The Piarist practice was to become a model for numerous later Catholic societies devoted to teaching, while some state-supported public school systems in Europe also followed their example. The Piarists have had a considerable success in the education of physically or mentally disabled persons. Endre Sík
Endre Sík (2 April 1891 – 10 April 1978) was a Hungarian historian, politician, Minister of Foreign Affairs between 1958 and 1961. He was the younger brother of the priest Sándor Sík who was also a poet and piarist teacher. During the First World War he was captured by the Russians. After that he lived in the Soviet Union. In 1920, he joined the Soviet Communist Party. In 1945, he returned to Hungary, and became a communist politician. He was deputy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs(1954–1958), then minister (1958–1961). In his scientific work, he studied the history of African ethnic groups. He obtained the Doctor of Sciences degree of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1962. His book, ''Vihar a levelet'', containing his recollections on the Soviet Union in the 1930s, was banned and withdrawn immediately after appearance.
