Szentlőrinc ( hu, Szentlőrinci járás) is a district in central-western part of Baranya County, Hungary. ''Szentlőrinc'' is also the name of the town where the district seat is found. The district is located in the Southern Transdanubia Statistical Region. Geography Szentlőrinc District borders with Hegyhát District to the north, Pécs District to the east, Sellye District to the south, Szigetvár District to the west. The number of the inhabited places in Szentlőrinc District is 21. Municipalities The district has 1 town and 20 villages. Districts of Hungary are the second-level divisions of Hungary after counties. They replaced the 175 subregions of Hungary in 2013. Altogether, there are 174 districts in the 19 counties, and there are 23 districts in Budapest. Districts of the 19 counties are numbered by Arabic numerals and named after the district seat, while districts of Budapest are numbered by Roman numerals and named after the historical towns and neighbourhoods. Velény
Velény is a village in Szentlőrinc Distric, in Baranya county, Hungary. Location The village is situated 25 kilometers southwest of Pécs in the valley of the Pécsi–víz. Due to the topographical conditions, only the part of its outskirts facing Szabadszentkirály is suitable for traditional cultivation. The hills on the other side of the village are covered with extensive forests and vineyards. Two streets run through the valley, characterized by comb-like development. Approximately 80 percent of the roads are paved. The installation of a piped drinking water system took place in 1992. The village became part of the national telephone network, accessible to subscribers at the end of 1996. Szabadszentkirály is a village in Szentlőrinc District, Baranya county, Hungary. Layout It is situated in the central-western part of the county, in the southeastern vicinity of Szentlőrinc. The neighboring settlements include Bicsérd to the northeast, Pécsbagota to the southeast, Velény to the south, Gerde to the southwest, and Királyegyháza to the west. The primary access is by road, with the main approach being the 5802 road running between Baksa and Szentlőrinc. Gerdé is connected by the 58 123 side road, and Velény is linked by the 58 148 side road, while there is no direct road connection to Bicsérd and Királyegyháza.
