Sytse Buwalda
Sytse Buwalda (born 1965) is a Dutch counter-tenor. Life and career Buwalda studied at the Sweelinck School of Music (Conservatorium van Amsterdam) in Amsterdam and has worked with conductors such as Frans Brüggen, Gustav Leonhardt, Sigiswald Kuijken and Sir David Willcocks. He was the alto soloist for most volumes of Pieter Jan Leusink's recording of the complete Bach cantata, sacred cantatas of Johann Sebastian Bach. He embarked upon a successful tour of Japan with Max van Egmond, singing Bach solo cantatas, conducted by Masaaki Suzuki and Yoshio Watanabe. He also toured Holland with actress Ina van Faassen, putting on a production of ''Il Virtuoso'', a theatrical play based upon the bestseller novel ''de Virtuoos'' by Margriet de Moor. Margriet De Moor
Margaretha Maria Antonetta 'Margriet' de Moor ('' née'' Neefjes; born 1941) is a Dutch pianist and writer of novels and essays. She won the AKO Literatuurprijs for her novel ''Eerst grijs dan wit dan blauw'' (1991). Life and career Margaretha Maria Antonetta Neefjes, born in Noordwijk, 21 November 1941, married sculptor Heppe de Moor (1938 - 1992). They had two daughters: writer Marente and visual artist Lara. After junior high and the Hogere Burgerschool she attended the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, where she studied piano and singing. Afterward she studied art history and archeology in Amsterdam and taught piano. With her husband, she began an artist salon in 1984 in 's-Graveland. De Moor began writing, and after a failed attempt at a novel, debuted with a story collection, ''Op de rug gezien''; the collection won her a literary award, the Gouden Ezelsoor, and a nomination for the AKO Literatuurprijs. Conservatorium Van Amsterdam
The Conservatorium van Amsterdam (CvA) is a Dutch conservatoire of music located in Amsterdam. This school is the music division of the Amsterdam University of the Arts, the city's vocational university of arts. The Conservatorium van Amsterdam is the largest music academy in the Netherlands, offering programs in classical music, jazz, pop, early music, music education, and opera. History The oldest predecessor of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam was founded in 1884 as the Amsterdamsch Conservatorium, four years before the completion of the Concertgebouw. In 1920, a competing music academy was established in Amsterdam by a society called 'Muzieklyceum'. The Bachzaal, used by the Amsterdamsch Conservatorium, was completed in 1931.
