''Système D'' is the fourth studio album by French pop rock group Les Rita Mitsouko. It was released in 1993 and reached number seven on the French Albums Chart. ''Système D'' includes the singles "Y’A D’La Haine", "Les Amants", and "Femme d’Affaires". The album was recorded and produced by Fred Chichin and Catherine Ringer largely at a large Moroccan house situated in Essaouira (Formerly Mogador), where the group set up their studio. Initially the group had intended to produce the album with veteran producer Tony Visconti, having previously worked together on the group's previous two albums. Ringer and Chichin chose to produce the album themselves to find a new sound. The album was completed in the Parisian studios of Studio 6, Studio Davout, and Studio Mega. Les Rita Mitsouko
Les Rita Mitsouko (, translation: ''The Rita Mitsukos'') were a French pop rock group formed by Fred Chichin and Catherine Ringer. The duo first performed as Rita Mitsouko at Gibus Club in Paris in 1980. They went on to become one of the most acclaimed musical acts in France. "Marcia Baila", their debut single produced by Conny Plank, went to number 2 in the French singles chart in 1984. They then started a collaboration with producer Tony Visconti on two albums: ''the No Comprendo'' and ''Marc & Robert''. "Singing in the Shower", sung as a duet with Sparks, was a commercial success in France and was then heavily played on US dance radio stations in 1988. Iggy Pop also collaborated with them on 1993's '' Système D'', duetting with Ringer on "My Love Is Bad". Chichin died from cancer in 2007. Iggy Pop
James Newell Osterberg Jr. (born April 21, 1947), known professionally as Iggy Pop, is an American singer, musician, songwriter and actor. Called the "Honorific nicknames in popular music, Godfather of Punk", he was the vocalist and lyricist of proto-punk band The Stooges, who were formed in 1967 and have disbanded and reunited many times since. Initially playing a raw, primitive style of rock and roll (progressing later towards more experimental and aggressive rock), the Stooges sold few records in their original incarnation and gained a reputation for their confrontational performances, which often involved acts of self-mutilation by Pop. Richie Cannata
Richie Cannata (born March 3, 1949) is an American music producer, saxophonist, keyboardist and studio owner. He is most notable for playing saxophone in Billy Joel's band alongside Liberty DeVitto, Russell Javors, and Doug Stegmeyer. After leaving the band in 1981, he opened Cove City Sound Studios in Glen Cove, New York. Artists including Celine Dion, Billy Joel, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have recorded in Cannata's studio. Daniel Bigeault (born 1960), better known as Dee Nasty, is a French DJ, producer, and rapper. He is one of Radio Nova's original DJs, and is best known for producing France's first hip hop record. Career Dee Nasty began his DJing career back in 1981 after discovering Hip-Hop back in 1979. By 1985, he was already forming a formidable reputation both promoting and producing hip hop music. Carmen Rizzo (born April 8, 1964) is an American record producer, mixer, programmer, DJ, remixer and recording artist, based in Los Angeles. Anthony Edward Visconti (born April 24, 1944) is an American record producer, musician and singer. Since the late 1960s, he has worked with an array of performers. His first hit single was T. Rex's " Ride a White Swan" in 1970, the first of many hits in collaboration with Marc Bolan. Catherine Ringer
Catherine Ringer (, born 18 October 1957 in Suresnes, France) is a French singer, songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist, dancer, choreographer, actress, and co-founder of the pop rock group Les Rita Mitsouko. She is also the daughter of French artist Sam Ringer. Biography Ringer started her professional career on stage in the late 1970s in productions with Michael Lonsdale's ''Théâtre de Recherche Musicale'' as well as musical and dance productions. In 1976, she met the Argentine dancer and choreographer Marcia Moretto with whom she studied and also performed in various venues in Paris. The hit song " Marcia Baïla" was written as a tribute to Moretto after her death in 1981. In 1979, she met Fred Chichin with whom she founded and co-led the music group Les Rita Mitsouko. Fred Chichin
Frédéric "Fred" Chichin (; 1 May 1954 – 28 November 2007) was a French musician, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He was part of the pop-rock duo Les Rita Mitsouko, along with Catherine Ringer, whom he met in 1979. Prior to his work in Les Rita Mitsouko, Chichin had been active in the rock bands Fassbinder (with Jean Neplin), Taxi Girl (with Daniel Darc), and Gazoline (with Alain Kan). Chichin died on the morning of 28 November 2007 from heart failure, following complications of the cancer the doctors had diagnosed two months earlier. Pop Rock
Pop rock (also typeset as pop/rock) is a fusion genre with an emphasis on professional songwriting and recording craft, and less emphasis on attitude than rock music.
