''Synotaxus'' is a genus of Araneomorphae, araneomorph spiders in the family Synotaxidae that was first described by Eugène Simon, Eugène Louis Simon in 1895. Originally placed with the Theridiidae, tangle web spiders, it was moved to the Monotypic taxon, monotypic family Synotaxidae in 2017. Description Spiders in this genus have a long, green abdomen, which extends to varying degrees beyond the spinnerets. The carapace is wide and flat, and they have long, delicate legs with the first being the longest. The legs and body are both covered in long, fine setae. The posterior lateral spinnerets bear enlarged aggregate gland spigots, and the male pedipalp has a stout patellar spur. The palpal femur, patella and tibia bear strong, often greatly enlarged, macrosetae. Lodovico Di Caporiacco
Ludovico di Caporiacco (22 January 1900, in Udine – 18 July 1951, in Parma) was an Italian arachnologist. Caporiacco took part in an expedition to the Jebel Uweinat, a mountain massif in the boundary region of Sudan, Libya, and Egypt. On the mission, he, together with Hungarian explorer László Almásy, discovered the prehistoric rock paintings of Ain Doua in 1933. In 1943 he was appointed professor of zoology to the faculty of sciences at the University of Parma. He was the author of numerous scientific papers on arachnids native to Italy and other Mediterranean regions.
