Sylvie Guillaume
Sylvie Guillaume (born 11 June 1962) is a French politician and Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from France. She is a member of the Socialist Party, part of the Party of European Socialists. Local political career After a career in the social economy, Guillaume joined the Socialist Party (PS) in 1988 in the Rhône. She has held various responsibilities in the French Socialist Party, including President of the Socialist National Council between 2000 and 2003. In 1998, she was elected a regional councillor in the Rhône-Alpes Regional Council and reelected in 2004. In 2001, she was elected deputy mayor of Lyon and was reelected in 2008. The Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) is the political group in the European Parliament of the Party of European Socialists (PES). The Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats was officially founded as a Socialist Group on 29 June 1953 which makes it the second oldest political group in the European Parliament after Renew Europe (Renew). It adopted its present-day name on 23 June 2009. Centre-left in orientation, the group mostly comprises social-democratic parties and is affiliated with the Progressive Alliance and Socialist International. Until the 1999 European Parliament elections, it was the largest group in the Parliament, but since then it has always been the second-largest group. Hubert Julien-Laferrière (born 27 February 1966) is a French economist and politician. As member of La République En Marche! (REM), he was elected to the National Assembly on 18 June 2017, representing the department of Rhône. Julien-Laferrière previously served twice as Mayor of the 9th arrondissement of Lyon, from 2003 to 2008 and from 2014 until 2017, as a member of the Socialist Party, which he left to run for Parliament as the REM nominee in the department's 2nd constituency. Rovana is an unincorporated community in Inyo County, California. It is located at the western edge of Owens Valley, north-northeast of Mount Tom, at an elevation of 5141 feet (1567 m). History Rovana was established in 1947, when the US Vanadium corporation purchased the former Foreman Ranch near the mouth of Pine Creek Canyon as a housing site for workers at their high-altitude Pine Creek Mine, which had expanded due to military demand for tungsten during World War II. By 1951 there were 85 houses in Rovana and later another 50, all still in use. Most were transported there from further up the canyon, where earlier mine-worker housing was vulnerable to heavy snow, avalanches, earthquakes, and mud slides.
