Sylvia Ortiz-Velez
Sylvia Ortiz-Velez is an American politician and real estate broker. A Democrat, she is a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly from assembly district 8. She was elected to her first term in November 2020. Ortiz-Velez was also a member of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors, serving from 2018 until 2022. Early life and education Sylvia Ortiz-Velez was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She earned a B.A. in political science from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. She worked as a real estate broker for several years in Milwaukee before being elected to the County Board. Political career In 2012, Ortiz-Velez made her first attempt at election to the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors, challenging four term incumbent supervisor Peggy A. West (then going by the name "Peggy Romo West"). West prevailed in the spring election with 55.71%. Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory (Mitchell Park Domes or The Domes) is a conservatory located at Mitchell Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. It is owned and operated by the Milwaukee County Park System, and replaced the original ''Milwaukee Conservatory'' which stood from 1898 to 1955. The three domes display a large variety of plant life. Description Designed by Donald L. Grieb Associates, Architect, the Conservatory is composed of three beehive-shaped glass domes that span in diameter and are high. They are properly referred to as the world's first conoidal domes. Wisconsin Elections Commission
The Wisconsin Elections Commission is a bipartisan regulatory agency of the State of Wisconsin established to administer and enforce election laws in the state. The Wisconsin Elections Commission was established by a 2015 act of the Wisconsin Legislature which also established the Wisconsin Ethics Commission to administer campaign finance, ethics, and lobbying laws. The two commissions began operation on June 30, 2016, replacing the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board (GAB), which was abolished. The Government Accountability Board had been established in 2008 to replace the Wisconsin Elections Board and Wisconsin Ethics Board.
