Sylvania Township is one of the eleven townships of Lucas County, Ohio, United States. As of 2010, the total population was 48,487, making it the second most populous municipality of Lucas County, Northwest Ohio, and the 419 / 567 area codes (behind only Toledo). It is the 8th most populous township in Ohio. The township entirely encompasses the city of Sylvania. Excluding the city of Sylvania, the remainder of the township had a population of 29,522 in 2010. The township government is under direction of a 3-member Board of Trustees (elected to staggered 4-year terms), an elected Clerk and a full-time Administrator. Ohio State Highway 51
State Route 51 (SR 51) is a northwest-southeast highway (signed north-south) in northwest Ohio. Its southern terminus is at U.S. Route 20 just south of Elmore, Ohio, and its northern terminus is at its interchange, along with State Route 184, at U.S. Route 23 in Sylvania, Ohio. Before an ODOT signage project in 2010, the northern (western) portion of the route, from its northern (western) terminus to the Maumee River was signed as an east-west route. The portion from the Maumee to its southern (eastern) terminus was signed north-south. ODOT has now signed all portions as north-south. U.S. Route 20 or U.S. Highway 20 (US 20) is an east–west United States Numbered Highway that stretches from the Pacific Northwest east to New England. The "0" in its route number indicates that US 20 is a major coast-to-coast route. Interstate 475 (I-475) is an auxiliary Interstate Highway in Ohio that is a western bypass of Toledo. The southern terminus is I-75 exit 192 near Perrysburg. From the southern terminus to exit 14, I-475 is cosigned with US Route 23 (US 23) and is signed the north–south section of I-475. From exit 14 to the eastern (northernmost) terminus at I-75 exit 204 in central Toledo (north of downtown), it is signed the east–west section of I-475.
