Sylvain Dispagne
Sylvain Dispagne (born 8 February 1968) is a French former rugby union international. Born and raised in Saint-Girons, Ariège, Dispagne played his rugby for the town until starting his career at the top level with USA Perpignan at the age of 20. He then crossed to RC Narbonne and while there earned a place on the France squad for the 1994 tour of New Zealand, but remained uncapped. At his next club, Stade Toulousain, Dispagne played in four national championship-winning teams, also featuring in the 1995–96 Heineken Cup title. He was capped twice as a number eight for France in the 1996 Five Nations Championship, against Ireland and Wales. Dispagne retired from playing at the age of 34 and began coaching Pechbonnieu-based club EVG, overseeing their promotion to the Fédérale 1 in 2009. Saint-Girons, Ariège
Saint-Girons (; oc, Sent Gironç) is a commune in the Ariège department in southwestern France. History Antiquity Unlike its close neighbour Saint-Lizier, Saint-Girons isn't an ancient city; there was however a ''lucus'' on its present territory where some Roman finds were made during the construction of the train station in the beginning of the twentieth century. Modern-days district ''Le Luc'' is considered to owe its name to this ancient ''lucus''. Foundation The city is named after Saint Girons, a saint from fifth-century Landes who evangelized Novempopulania. In the ninth century some of his relics were supposedly buried in Saint Girons' Church, around which the city later developed. Climate Saint-Girons has a moderate but warm oceanic climate, that is quite prone to temporary vast extremes in temperature as a result of its inland position. Le championnat de France de première division fédérale, a.k.a. Fédérale 1, is a French rugby union club competition, the fifth highest level of amateur rugby. The competition has been organised by the Fédération Française de Rugby since 2000, when it replaced the B2 Group.
