Sylhet Division Cricket Team
The Sylhet Division cricket team is a Bangladeshi first-class team representing the Sylhet Division, one of the country's seven administrative regions. The team competes in the National Cricket League and was formerly a participant in the now-defunct National Cricket League One-Day. In the short-lived National Cricket League Twenty20 competition, played in the 2009–10 season only, Sylhet adopted the name Sultans of Sylhet and played in their official yellow and blue colours. The equivalent team in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is the Sylhet Thunder. Sylhet's main home ground is the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet city, which has a 13,500 capacity. They have never won the NCL title, and their sole honour is winning the inaugural One-Day League in 2001–02. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. At a meeting of the Imperial Cricket Conference (ICC) in 1947, it was formally defined on a global basis. Alok Kapali
Alok Kapali ( bn, অলোক কাপালী; born 1 January 1984) is a Bangladeshi cricketer. He is an allrounder who bats in the middle to lower order and bowls leg spin. He was the first Bangladeshi to take a Test hat-trick. Early life and background Kapali was born into a Bengali Hindu family in Sylhet, Bangladesh. He is the youngest of six brothers and four sisters in his family. His father worked at a Hindu temple in his hometown, Sylhet. International career Test career Kapali made his Test debut in 2002, against Sri Lanka at Colombo. He took 2 wickets, Michael Vandort and Upul Chandana as well as making 39 and 23 with the bat. Abul Hasan (cricketer)
Abul Hasan (born 5 August 1992) is a Bangladeshi cricketer. He is a bowling allrounder. He is a right-arm medium-fast bowler and a robust left-handed lower-order batsman. International career Hasan has played Tests, One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals for the Bangladesh national team. In his first Test, against the West Indies in Khulna in November 2012, he became only the fourth player to make a century batting at number 10, and the second to do so on debut - the first being Australia's Reggie Duff in 1902. Hasan made 113 from 123 balls, and added 184 for the ninth wicket with Mahmudullah, which is the highest ninth wicket partnership for Bangladesh in Test. Bangladesh National Cricket Team
The Bangladesh men's national cricket team ( bn, বাংলাদেশ জাতীয় ক্রিকেট দল), popularly known as The Tigers, is administered by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). It is a Full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with Test, One-Day International (ODI) and T20 International (T20I) status. It played its first Test match in November 2000 against India with a 9 wicket loss in Dhaka, becoming the tenth Test-playing nation. The 2013–14 season in Bangladesh was the fourteenth in which first-class cricket was played at the domestic level. The 2011–12 Bangladeshi cricket season is when the increase in the National Cricket League (NCL) championship teams from six to eight. Following creation of Rangpur Division in January 2010 as the country's seventh administrative region, the NCL in 2011–12 was expanded to eight teams with the introduction of the Rangpur team and the return of Dhaka Metropolis, although they had no settled home venue. Rajshahi Division won the championship title in the fourth consecutive season.
