Sylamore Scenic Byway
The Sylamore Scenic Byway is a scenic route in the Arkansas Scenic Byways program. The route runs through the Sylamore Ranger District of the Ozark National Forest in Arkansas for in Stone County. It passes through undeveloped forest land as a scenic route to Blanchard Springs Caverns. Route description The Sylamore Scenic Byway begins at the National Forest Service Blanchard Springs Caverns Visitor Center. The Mirror Lake Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The route runs west along Forest Highway 1110. It turns onto Highway 14, which winds east past an intersection with Highway 87 to Allison near the White River. The following is a list of state highways in Arkansas. The state does not use a numbering convention. Generally the two-digit odd numbered highways run north–south with a few exceptions; and even-numbered two-digit state highways run east–west with a few exceptions. Arkansas has long had a stigma of poor roads, dating from the "Arkansas Roads Scandal" playing a prominent role in state politics through the 1920s and 1930s, periodic allegations of corruption, waste, and fraud, and a long-running struggle to adequately fund the operation, maintenance and expansion of a large highway system serving a rural state. The White River is a river that flows through the U.S. states of Arkansas and Missouri. Originating in the Boston Mountains of northwest Arkansas, it arcs northwards through southern Missouri before turning back into Arkansas, flowing southeast to its mouth at the Mississippi River. Miles Jeffery Barn
The Miles Jeffery Barn is a historic barn in rural northeastern Stone County, Arkansas. It is located off Arkansas Highway 5 south of Optimus, on a private inholding in the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest. It is a roughly rectangular three-crib structure, oriented with its ridge running roughly northeast to southwest, and set on dry laid stacks of stone. The oldest crib, at the northeast end, is estimated to date to 1858, while the other two were added later. Unlike other portions of the associated farmstead, the barn has been relatively little altered since the last crib addition. The barn was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. Arkansas Highway 9
Highway 9 (AR 9) is a designation for two north–south state highways in Arkansas. A southern segment of begins at U.S. Route 79 at Eagle Mills and heads north to U.S. Route 67 in Malvern before terminating. The northern segment of runs from AR 5 to U.S. Route 63 in Mammoth Spring. The route was created during the 1926 Arkansas state highway numbering, and has seen only minor extensions and realignments since. Pieces of both routes are designated as Arkansas Heritage Trails for use during the Civil War and the Trail of Tears. The AR 9 designation also extends to two spur routes and one business route. Highway 5 (AR 5, Ark. 5, and Hwy. 5) is a designation for three state highways in Arkansas. The southern segment of runs from Highway 7 in Hot Springs north to US Highway 70 (US 70) in Little Rock.
