Syed Mehboob Rizwi
Syed Mehboob Rizwi (1911–1979) was an Indian Sunni Islamic scholar, author and historian, best known for ''Tarikh Darul Uloom Deoband'', his two volume Urdu work on the history of Darul Uloom Deoband. Biography Syed Mehboob Rizwi was born in 1911 in a Rizwi Sayyid family in Deoband. He studied Islamic sciences at the Madrasa Manba-ul-Ulum Gulaothi and Darul Uloom Deoband. Rizwi served different educational and research departments of the Darul Uloom Deoband from 1933 until he died. He was also office in-charge of seminary's record room. Rizwi wrote for different journals and newspapers including, Weekly ''Al-Jamiat'', Monthly ''Al-Burhan'', Monthly ''Molvi'' and Monthly ''Deen-o-Dunya'' of Delhi, Monthly ''Ma'arif'', Azamgarh, Monthly ''Haadi'', Deoband, Monthly ''Shams al-Mashayikh'', Bhopal, Monthly ''Shams-ul-Islam'', Amritsar and Bi-monthly ''Asia'', Lahore. Asghar Ali Engineer
Asghar Ali Engineer (10 March 1939 – 14 May 2013) was an Indian reformist writer and social activist. Internationally known for his work on liberation theology in Islam, he led the Progressive Dawoodi Bohra movement. The focus of his work was on communalism and communal and ethnic violence in India and South Asia. He was a votary of peace and non-violence and lectured all over world on communal harmony. Engineer also served as head of the Indian Institute of Islamic Studies Mumbai, and the Centre for Study of Society and Secularism (CSSS), both of which he founded in 1980 and 1993 respectively. He also made contributions to ''The God Contention'', a website comparing and contrasting various worldviews. Tapan Kumar Pradhan (born 1972) is an Indian poet, writer and translator from Odisha. He is best known for his poem collection "Kalahandi" which was awarded second place in Sahitya Akademi's Golden Jubilee ''Indian Literature'' Translation Prize for Poetry in 2007. His other works include "Equation", "I, She and the Sea", "Wind in the Afternoon" and "Dance of Shiva".
