Sydney Jordan
Sydney Jordan (born Dundee, Scotland, 1928) is a comics artist best known for his daily science fiction strip '' Jeff Hawke'', which ran in the ''Daily Express'' from 1955 to 1974. Career He studied aeronautical engineering at Miles Aircraft's experimental college in Reading, Berkshire, but returned to Dundee and worked as an assistant to comics artist Bill McCail, and learned by studying the work of Alex Raymond, Milton Caniff and Stan Drake. In 1951 he assisted Len Fullerton on his comic strip ''Dora, Toni and Liz'', before creating ''Jeff Hawke'' for the ''Daily Express'' in 1954. Jordan's friend Willie Patterson came aboard as writer in 1956, and Jordan wrote the later strips himself. The series has been reprinted all over Europe. The ''Daily Record'' is a national tabloid newspaper which is published online also based in Glasgow, Scotland. Galerie Lambiek is a Dutch comic book store and art gallery in Amsterdam, founded on November 8, 1968 by Kees Kousemaker (, – Bussum, ), though since 2007, his son Boris Kousemaker is the current owner. From 1968 to 2015, it was located in the Kerkstraat, but in November 2015, the store moved to the Koningsstraat 27. As of 2018, Lambiek is the oldest comics store in Europe, and the oldest worldwide still in existence. The name "Lambiek" originated as a misspelling of the name of the comics character Lambik, from the popular Suske & Wiske comic book series created by Belgian artist Willy Vandersteen. Trevor Goring
Trevor Goring (born 1949, London, England) is a visual artist, author, publisher, lecturer and consultant. Early life and career Trained in Montreal at the École des Beaux Arts, Université du Québec (1968-1972) in print-making with Pierre Ayot, and painting with Jacques Hurtubise and Fernand Leduc he completed scholarship post graduate studies at Saint Martin’s College of Art, London, (1972–74) painting with Keith Grant and Frederick Gore, and sculpture with Anthony Caro. Paul Neary
Paul Neary (born 1949) is a British comic book artist, writer and editor. His first work was for Warren Publishing in the 1970s before working with Dez Skinn at Marvel UK as well as work for '' 2000 AD''. He later became editor-in-chief of Marvel UK in the 1990s but is now best known for inking Bryan Hitch's work on ''The Ultimates'' for Marvel Comics. Nick Faure (born 28 May 1944) is a former English Sportscar racing driver, and purveyor of Porsche in the United Kingdom of his era. Known affectionately as ''Mr. Porsche'', Faure achieved fame through racing and selling Porsche 911 and 356s, since the 1960s and his name has become synonymous with the marque. His fame allowed him the opportunity at Le Mans 24 Hours eleven times. He retired from international motor sport after his last race, 1989 Spa 24 Hours. Jeff Hawke
''Jeff Hawke'' was a British science fiction comic strip created by Sydney Jordan. It was published in the ''Daily Express'' from 15 February 1955 to 18 April 1974, by which point Jordan had "written or co-written and drawn 6,474 episodes." Despite its obscurity in English-speaking countries, it is often regarded as one of the most important science fiction comics ever released, especially in Italy and Scandinavian countries. Publication history Sydney Jordan was a graduate of the Aeronautical Technical School in Reading, Berkshire, Reading. He long sought to draw a fantastic comic where he could exploit his skills in drawing aeroplanes.
