Syd Field
Sydney Alvin Field (December 19, 1935November 17, 2013) was an American author and speaker who wrote several books on screenwriting, the first being '' Screenplay: The Foundations of Screenwriting'' (Dell Publishing, 1979). He led workshops and seminars about producing salable screenplays. Hollywood film producers use Field's ideas on structure to measure the potential of screenplays. He was inducted into American Screenwriters Association's Screenwriting Hall of Fame. Early life Syd Field was born on December 19, 1935 in Hollywood, California. His uncle, Sol Halprin, was the head of the camera department at 20th Century Fox, and his neighbor was a talent agent who got him minor screen time in ''Gone with the Wind'' (1939) which was cut from the final film. He also played the trumpet in ''State of the Union'' (1948). Frank Mazzola
Frank Mazzola (March 7, 1935 – January 13, 2015) was an American actor and film editor. Career Mazzola was born in Los Angeles, California. As a child and young adult, Mazzola worked as an actor. In 1955, he acted in ''Rebel Without a Cause'' (among other films) with James Dean, Sal Mineo, Natalie Wood, and Dennis Hopper. He played "Crunch," a minor character, and was one of the last surviving cast members from that film. In 1966, Mazzola started editing films; he edited ''Performance'' (1970 - uncredited), ''The Hired Hand'' (1971), ''Demon Seed'' (1977), ''The Secret Diary of Sigmund Freud'' (1984), and '' Wild Side'' (1995), among others. Fouad Said (born 1933) is an Egyptian producer, cinematographer and filmmaker. Early life and education Said graduated from USC School of Cinematic Arts. He received his master's degree from University of Southern California in 1973. He completed his thesis on the diversification of the Cinemobile Systems company from equipment truck production to film production. Career He is best known for inventing Cinemobile, a mobile movie studio, which was developed on the set of the TV series ''I Spy'' and proved influential in Hollywood. Said conceived of the precursor to the Cinemobile while working for producer Sheldon Leonard in Hong Kong. He converted a Ford econoline panel truck so that it would load onto cargo planes and filled it with all the necessary equipments, such as cameras and generators. ''Hollywood and the Stars'' is a 1963 NBC television documentary series produced by the David L. Wolper Production Company in association with United Artists Television. It was narrated by Joseph Cotten with the theme music and several episodes composed by Elmer Bernstein. Jack Haley, Jr. was the series' producer for all its 31 episodes. He also wrote four episodes and directed 22 episodes. He also produced the hour-long pilot episode "The Great Stars" (narrated by Henry Fonda), originally syndicated in February 1963. Dell Publishing Company, Inc. is an American publisher of books, magazines and comic books, that was founded in 1921 by George T. Delacorte Jr. with $10,000 (approx. $145,000 in 2021), two employees and one magazine title, ''I Confess'', and soon began turning out dozens of pulp magazines, which included penny-a-word detective stories, articles about films, and romance books (or "smoochies" as they were known in the slang of the day). The Doors
The Doors were an American Rock music, rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1965, with vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger, and drummer John Densmore. Raymond Daniel Manzarek Jr. (né Manczarek; February 12, 1939 – May 20, 2013) was an American keyboardist. He is best known as a member of the Doors, co-founding the band with singer and lyricist Jim Morrison in 1965.
