Swimming At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's 100 Metre Breaststroke
The men's 100 metre breaststroke event at the 2020 Summer Olympics was held from 24 to 26 July 2021 at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. It will be the event's fourteenth consecutive appearance, having been held at every edition since 1968. The medals for the competition were presented by Sir Craig Reedie, United Kingdom; IOC Member, and the medalists' bouquets were presented by Zouheir El Moufti, Morocco; FINA Bureau Member. Records Prior to this competition, the existing world and Olympic records were as follows. No new records were set during the competition. Qualification The Olympic Qualifying Time for the event is 59.93 seconds. Up to two swimmers per National Olympic Committee (NOC) can automatically qualify by swimming that time at an approved qualification event. The Olympic Selection Time is 1:01.73. Tokyo Aquatics Centre
The is an indoor swimming pool in the Mori- Beach Park () in Tatsumi in the Kōtō ward in eastern Tokyo. Construction began in April 2017 and was completed in 2020. The total construction cost was 56.7 billion yen, ¥ (471 million Euro, €). The opening, scheduled for 22 March 2020, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and took place on 23 July 2020 without an audience. The swimming hall was built for the 2020 Summer Olympics and can accommodate up to 12,000 spectators. The arena will also be used for swimming competitions at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. The swimming arena has two swimming pools and a pool for water diving. The roof was built on the ground and raised step by step to a height of 37 metres. It is 160 metres long, 130 metres wide and 10 metres thick. The roof weighs 7,000 tonnes. He has six medals in World Championships: two in long course, and four in short course, highlighting his bronze medal in the 100 metre breaststroke at the 2013 World Championships. Andrew Wilson (born September 16, 1993) is a retired American swimmer. At the 2020 Summer Olympics, he placed 6th in the 100 meter breaststroke, 17th in the 200 meter breaststroke, and won a gold medal in the 4x100 meter medley relay, for his efforts in the prelims of the relay. James Wilby (born 12 November 1993) is a British competitive swimmer who specialises in the breaststroke. Wilby is the 2018 Commonwealth Games champion in 200 metre breaststroke, the 2022 Commonwealth Games champion in 100 metre breaststroke, and the 2022 European champion in 200 metre breaststroke.
