The men's 4×100 metre medley relay event at the 1972 Olympic Games took place on September 4. This swimming event uses medley swimming as a relay. Because an Olympic size swimming pool is 50 metres long, each of the four swimmers completed two lengths of the pool, each using a different stroke. Bruce Robertson (swimmer)
Bruce Richard Robertson, CM (born April 27, 1953) is a male former freestyle and butterfly swimmer from Canada,. Swimming career Robertson competed for his native country at two consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1972 in Munich. There he won the silver medal in the 100-metre butterfly, and bronze in the 4×100-metre medley relay, alongside Erik Fish, William Mahony and Robert Kasting. A specialist in the butterfly stroke, his greatest achievement was winning the 100-metre butterfly race at the 1973 World Aquatics Championships in Belgrade – the first world championship swimming performance by a Canadian in over 60 years. András Hargitay (born 17 March 1956) is a retired swimmer from Hungary, who won the bronze medal in the Swimming at the 1972 Summer Olympics – Men's 400 metre individual medley, 400 m individual medley at the Swimming at the 1972 Summer Olympics, 1972 Summer Olympics. Robert A. Kasting (born August 28, 1950) is a Canadian former competition swimmer who specialized in freestyle and butterfly events. Kasting represented Canada at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany, where he won the bronze medal in the men's 4x100-metre medley relay, together with Canadian teammates Erik Fish, Bruce Robertson and William Mahony. William Ray Kennedy (born October 26, 1952) is a Canadian former swimmer who competed at the 1972 Summer Olympics. He swam for Canada's third-place team in the preliminary heats of the men's 4x100-metre medley relay.
