Linda Lee Gustavson (born November 30, 1949), also known by her married name Linda McGuire, is an American former competition swimmer, three-time Olympic medalist, and surpassed world record-holder in two events. John Maurer Nelson (born June 8, 1948) is an American former competition swimmer, Olympic champion, and former world record-holder. Nelson was born in Chicago, Illinois, and attended Pompano Beach High School in Pompano Beach, Florida. He enrolled in Yale University, where he swam for coach Phil Moriarty's Yale Bulldogs swimming and diving team, which included other Olympic-caliber swimmers such as Don Schollander. Kenneth Marshall Walsh (born February 11, 1945) is an American former competition swimmer, two-time Olympic gold medalist, and former world record-holder in three events. Career Walsh was born in Orange, New Jersey, and grew up in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. He attended Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, where he swam for coach Charles McCaffree's Michigan State Spartans swimming and diving team in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) competition from 1965 to 1967. During his three-year college career, he received twelve All-American honors, and won Big Ten Conference championships in the 100-meter freestyle (1965, 1967), 200-meter freestyle (1967), and 4×100-meter freestyle relay (1967). As a college senior in 1967, he won the NCAA national championship in the 100-yard freestyle. John Ferris (swimmer)
John Edward Ferris (July 24, 1949 – September 13, 2020) was an American competition swimmer, Olympic medalist, and one time world record-holder. Ferris won two bronze medals at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City; one in the men's 200-meter individual medley and one in the men's 200-meter butterfly. His third-place finish in the 200-meter individual medley completed an American sweep of the event, with Charlie Hickcox taking first and Greg Buckingham taking second. Ferris attended Stanford University, where he swam for the Stanford Cardinal swimming and diving team in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) competition. He received a gold medal in the 200-meter butterfly at the 1967 World University Games, where he set a new world-record time of 2:06.0. He also won an NCAA national championship in the 200-yard butterfly in 1969. Ferris died from lung cancer on September 13, 2020. Carl Robie
Carl Joseph Robie III (May 12, 1945 – November 29, 2011) was an American swimmer, Olympic champion, and former world record-holder. Biography At the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, Robie received a silver medal for his second-place finish in the men's 200-meter butterfly. Four years later at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, he won a gold medal for winning the men's 200-meter butterfly. Robie broke the world record in men's 200-meter butterfly four times during his career, including twice on the same day in August 1962. Robie practiced civil trial law in Sarasota, Florida. He was inducted in the International Swimming Hall of Fame as an "Honor Swimmer" in 1976. Death Robie died at the age of 66 on November 29, 2011.
