The men's 1500 metre freestyle event at the 2016 Summer Olympics took place on 12–13 August at the Olympic Aquatics Stadium. Summary Italian swimmer and 2015 world champion Gregorio Paltrinieri outlasted the field on the closing stages to become his country's first ever Olympic champion in the program's longest pool race. The Olympic Aquatics Stadium ( pt, Estádio Aquático Olímpico) was a temporary aquatics center in the Barra Olympic Park in Rio de Janeiro. Stephen Milne (born 29 April 1994) is a Scottish swimmer who competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Personal life Milne was born on 29 April 1994 in Inverness, Scotland, United Kingdom. He went to school at Perth Academy and is now studying at Perth College, University of the Highlands and Islands, for a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science. Jack McLoughlin
Jack Alan McLoughlin (born 1 February 1995) is a retired Australian swimmer. He competed in the men's 1500 metre freestyle event at the 2016 Summer Olympics. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games McLoughlin won a gold medal in the same event and silver in the 400 metre freestyle. In the Autumn of 2019, he was a member of the inaugural International Swimming League swimming for the New York Breakers, who competed in the Americas Division. McLoughlin won silver in the 400 metre freestyle at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. He was beaten into second place by 0.16 of a second.
