Sweden In Europe
Stiftelsen Sverige i Europa ("Sweden in Europe") was the main campaign organisation on the yes side in the 2003 referendum on the euro. Sweden in Europe involved all political groups supporting the euro, including Social Democrats, in the campaign and published leaflets arguing for the euro from a left-wing point of view. Most of its funding came from the business organisation the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise. Ulf Dinkelspiel, its chairman, was a Moderate Minister in the government of Carl Bildt between 1991 and 1994 and during the campaign former Moderate Youth League chairman Thomas Idergaard was its Chief Executive. 2003 Swedish Euro Referendum
A non-binding referendum on introduction of the euro was held in Sweden on 14 September 2003. The majority voted not to adopt the euro, and thus Sweden decided in 2003 not to adopt the euro for the time being. Had they voted in favour, the plan was that Sweden would have adopted the euro on 1 January 2006. The ballot text was "Do you think that Sweden should introduce the euro as currency?" ( sv, Anser du att Sverige skall införa euron som valuta?). Sweden in Europe was the main umbrella group campaigning for a Yes vote. The No vote campaign was led by two organisations, representing left () and right wing politicians respectively. The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise or Swedish Enterprise ( sv, Svenskt Näringsliv) is a major employers' organization for private sector and business sector companies in Sweden. It has 49 member associations representing 60,000 member companies with more than 1.6 million employees. Ulf Dinkelspiel
Ulf Adolf Roger Dinkelspiel (4 July 1939 – 9 January 2017) was a Swedish Moderate Party politician and financier. Career Dinkelspiel was born in Stockholm in 1939, the son of Max Dinkelspiel and his wife Brita (née Björnstjerna). He attended the University of Arkansas in the United States from 1956 to 1957 and graduated from the Stockholm School of Economics in 1960. Dinkelspiel became a reserve officer in 1961 and was an employee at Bankirfirman E. Öhman J:or. AB from 1957 to 1959 and from 1961 to 1962. He was an employee at Stockholms Enskilda Bank in 1960 and became an attaché at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1962. Nils Daniel Carl Bildt (born 15 July 1949) is a Swedish politician and diplomat who was Prime Minister of Sweden from 1991 to 1994. He was the leader of the Moderate Party from 1986 to 1999. The Moderate Youth League ( sv, Moderata ungdomsförbundet ; MUF), officially known in English as the Swedish Young Conservatives, is the youth wing of the Swedish Moderate Party. Of the political youth organizations that received financial support from the Swedish National Board for Youth Affairs in 2009, it had the highest number of members. The Moderate Youth League is more libertarian-leaning and more radical than the mother party. Thomas Idergaard
Lars Thomas Idergard (born 1 March 1969 in Arvidsjaur) was a Swedish businessman and political commentator connected with the Moderate Party. Now he is a Jesuit and a Catholic Priest. He gained prominence as chairman of the Moderate Youth League between 1995 and 1998. He was seen as a future leader of the party but after his resignation he withdrew from party politics. He was thus considered as part of the "Lost Generation" of the Moderate Party together with Ulf Kristersson.
