Sweden In The Eurovision Song Contest 2006
Sweden's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 was Carola with the song "Invincible". Before Eurovision Melodifestivalen 2006 Sweden's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 was selected in ''Melodifestivalen 2006'', the Swedish national final. Before the final there were four heats and a second chance round, with all shows presented by Lena Philipsson, Melodifestivalen 2004 winner and Swedish representative at Eurovision 2004. The top two songs in each heat directly qualified for the final, while the 3rd and 4th placed songs went forward to the second-chance round. With the votes from the jury and televote, Carola was chosen to go to Athens for Sweden singing the song "Evighet" (Eternity). The song was written by Thomas G:son and Carola Häggkvist and composed by Thomas G:son, Bobby Ljunggren and Henrik Wikström. Melodifestivalen 2006
Melodifestivalen 2006 was the selection for the 46th song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the 45th time that this system of picking a song had been used. Five heats had taken place to select the ten songs for the final, in Leksand, Karlstad, Karlskrona, Gothenburg and a Second Chance round in Stockholm. The final was broadcast on SVT1 and Sveriges Radio's P4 network. Carola Häggkvist was the clear favourite to win the final, with bookmakers making her the favourite and an ''Aftonbladet'' web poll showing her to have a clear margin over the other participants. The rehearsals sold out for the fourth year running; however, Carola was unable to perform in the final rehearsal due to throat problems. Hannah Rakel Serafia Graaf Karyd (born ''Graf'' 31 August 1978) is a Swedish glamour model and singer. Graaf along with her model sister, Magdalena, formed a musical duo called The Graaf Sisters. NKT Arena Karlskrona is a multi-purpose sporting arena providing both indoors and outdoors amenities, and is located in Karlskrona, Sweden. The arena was opened on 28 October 2005. It is the home arena of the ice hockey team Karlskrona HK and has various restaurants. Östen med Resten (sometimes spelt ''Östen mä Resten'') is a Swedish music group from Hälsingland. It was formed in 1985. The original members were Östen Eriksson, Jens Kristensen and Nisse Damberg. Sonja Annika Maria Aldén (born 20 December 1977) is a Swedish singer mostly famous for her 2006, 2007, 2012 and 2020 Melodifestivalen entries, and for working together with Shirley Clamp and Sanna Nielsen, as well as her songwriting for other artists. Jenny Marielle Pettersson (born 5 November 1975, Helsingborg, Sweden), professionally known as Velvet, is a Swedish dance-pop singer. She has released two albums since her 2005 debut in the music industry and her first eight singles have all achieved a top-twenty peak on the Swedish Singles Chart. Early life Velvet moved from Helsingborg to Stockholm in 1993 to study ballet at Balettakademien. She soon took singing lessons at a dance school where she "got a voice". Magnus Carlsson
Lars Magnus Carlsson (born 24 June 1974) is a Swedish singer and former member of the bands Alcazar and Barbados as well as a solo performer. Early life Magnus Carlsson was born in Borås and grew up in Fristad.
