Beach Volleyball
Beach volleyball is a team sport played by two teams of two or more players on a sand court divided by a net. Similar to indoor volleyball, the objective of the game is to send the ball over the net and to ground it on the opponent's side of the court. Each team also works in unison to prevent the opposing team from grounding the ball on their side of the court. Teams are allowed up to three touches to return the ball across the net, and individual players may not touch the ball twice consecutively except after a touch off an attempted block. Making a block touch leaves only two more touches before the ball must be hit over. The ball is put in play with a serve—a hit by the server from behind the rear court boundary over the net to the opponents. The receiving team typically uses their three touches to pass the ball, set it up for an attack, and then attack the ball by sending it back over the net. Zhang Xi (volleyball)
Zhang Xi (born 19 April 1985 in Jiangsu) is a Chinese female beach volleyball player, measuring in height. She won the gold medal in the women's team competition at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, partnering with comparator Xue Chen. Zhang Xi in 2002 and 2003 she played each game she was scheduled to play. In 2004, she moved on to start playing full-time in the Swatch FIVB World Tour. In 2006, she began to partner Xue Chen in the SWATCH tournament season. After finishing the tournament she went back to study at the Physical Education Unit of Jiangsu Province in China. In 2008 Zhang was named as the FIVB Most Outstanding player. In the same year, Zhang and Xue won the bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics. The duo of Zhang and Xue won a gold medal from the FIVB World Tour Women's Final in Åland, Finland on 21 August 2010. Márcio Henrique Barroso Araújo (born 12 October 1973 in Fortaleza, Ceará) is a male beach volleyball player from Brazil. Nila Håkedal
Nila Ann Håkedal (born 13 June 1979 in Kristiansand) is a Norwegian female beach volleyball player. Håkedal was born and raised in the city of Kristiansand, and lived there until she was 20 years old. She started playing volleyball for Hånes VBK when she was 13, and continued in the club until she moved to Oslo during the autumn of 1999 to play for Koll volleyball club, and to study languages. Talita Antunes da Rocha (born August 29, 1982) is a Brazilian beach volleyball player, playing as a blocker. She was FIVB rookie of the year in 2005, and World Tour Winner twice, in 2013 and 2015. Career Born in Aquidauana, Antunes caught the attention of Olympic Champion Jackie Silva at the age of 19. From the first time they played together, in Maceió in 2001, Jackie was impressed with Antunes' style and invited the young player to partner with her in 2002.
