Swan United FC
Swan United Football Club is an Australian Football Club based in the Swan Valley region, in Perth. The club will compete in 2022 in the Football West State League Division 2. History The Swan IC United Soccer Club was formed in 1984 by members of the Italian community in the Swan Valley. The club was founded after the Swan Italian Club, headed by John Steffanelli, decided to start a semi-professional team in the Swan Valley. In 1985 the club played its first season in amateur ranks in 1985. After finishing third in their inaugural season they were accepted in the state fourth division for the 1986 season. After playing the first two seasons at Jack Mann Oval in 1987 the club moved to new facilities at the Swan Italian Club. The club first made the Premier League in 1994 and have been in the top tier since then nearly every year up until 2010. The Football West State League Division 2 is a regional Australian semi-professional association football league comprising teams from Western Australia. The league sits at Level 3 on the Western Australian league system (Level 4 of the overall Australian league system). The competition is administered by Football West, the governing body of the sport in the state. Format The league operates with a promotion and relegation system. Jack Mann (winemaker)
Jack Mann MBE (19 March 1906 – 26 May 1989) was a winemaker in Western Australia and devised Houghton White Burgundy, a wine that became the flagship of the Western Australian wine industry. He was chief winemaker at Houghton Winery in the Swan Valley, from 1930 to 1972 and is considered one of the pioneers of the Western Australian wine industry. Early life Mann was born in Perth. His father George was a well-known brandy maker from Chateau Tanunda winery in South Australia's Barossa Valley and his mother was a member of the Sobels winemaking family. Career Mann started work at Houghton's with his father George in 1922. He succeeded his father as chief winemaker eight years later. In the 1930s his oloroso won the first of 13 successive Australian Champion awards. Gary Marocchi
Gary Donald Marocchi (born 24 April 1955, in Western Australia) is an Australian football (soccer) coach and former player. He is currently the President of the Perth Soccer Club. Playing career Marocchi represented Australia 13 times in full internationals playing as a midfielder. His playing career at club level began in Perth in 1971 with Perth Azzurri in the Western Australia State League and concluded in 1980 with Adelaide City in the National Soccer League. He represented Western Australia 22 times and South Australia three times. Coaching career Marocchi's first venture into coaching at semi-professional level was with Perth Italia in 1991. He remained at Perth Italia until he joined Perth Kangaroos where in 1994 he coached the Kangaroos to the FAS Premier League league title. Fremantle Spirit Soccer Club was an Australian Association football, soccer club based in Fremantle, Western Australia. The Spirit played in the State League Division 1 (2012) dropping to Division 2 for 2013 of the Western Australia State League. History The club was established in 1978 as Benfica United with support from the Fremantle Portuguese Australian community. It was seen as a successor to the Associacao Portuguesa de Fremantle team that had played for a number of years from 1967. The club changed its name to Fremantle City in 1994 and to Fremantle Spirit in 2006. In the 2013 Season the name of the club changed to Maddington White City after a merger with Maddington Eagles. The overall premier for the new structure – Perth – qualified for the National Premier Leagues finals series, competing with the other Federation champions in a final knockout tournament to decide the National Premier Leagues Champion for 2016.
