Svilengrad Peninsula
Svilengrad Peninsula ( bg, полуостров Свиленград, poluostrov Svilengrad, ) is the mostly ice-covered 5.6-km wide peninsula projecting 5.2 km in northwest direction into Orléans Strait from Davis Coast in Graham Land, Antarctica. It is bounded by Lanchester Bay to the southwest and Jordanoff Bay to the northeast. The peninsula ends in Wennersgaard Point to the northwest, and has its interior occupied by the north part of Korten Ridge. Orléans Strait
Orléans Strait is a strait running NE-SW and separating Trinity Island and Tower Island from Davis Coast, Antarctic Peninsula. Possibly first seen by Nathaniel B. Palmer, captain of the Hero, on November 18, 1820. Named and outlined in part by the French Antarctic Expedition, 1837–40, under Captain Jules Dumont d'Urville. Charted in greater detail by the Swedish Antarctic Expedition, 1901–04, under Otto Nordenskiöld. Davis Coast
Davis Coast () is that portion of the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula between Cape Kjellman and Cape Sterneck. It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Captain John Davis, the American sealer who claimed to have made the first recorded landing on the continent of Antarctica at Hughes Bay on this coast in the ''Cecilia'', February 7, 1821. Graham Land
Graham Land is the portion of the Antarctic Peninsula that lies north of a line joining Cape Jeremy and Cape Agassiz. This description of Graham Land is consistent with the 1964 agreement between the British Antarctic Place-names Committee and the US Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names, in which the name "Antarctic Peninsula" was approved for the major peninsula of Antarctica, and the names Graham Land and Palmer Land for the northern and southern portions, respectively. The line dividing them is roughly 69 degrees south. Graham Land is named after Sir James R. G. Graham, First Lord of the Admiralty at the time of John Biscoe's exploration of the west side of Graham Land in 1832. Lanchester Bay
Lanchester Bay () is a bay wide lying east of Havilland Point, along the west coast of Graham Land, Antarctica. Its head is fed by Temple Glacier and Kasabova Glacier. The bay was photographed by Hunting Aerosurveys Ltd in 1955–57 and mapped from these photos by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey. Jordanoff Bay
Jordanoff Bay ( bg, Йорданов залив, Yordanov zaliv, ) is the 5 km wide bay indenting for 4.9 km Davis Coast in Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula, and entered northeast of Wennersgaard Point and southwest of Tarakchiev Point. Its head is fed by Sabine Glacier. Wennersgaard Point
Wennersgaard Point () is a point forming the northwest extremity of Svilengrad Peninsula on Davis Coast, the west coast of Graham Land in Antarctica. It is situated on both the east side of the entrance to Lanchester Bay and its sub-embayment Hvoyna Cove, and the southwest side of the entrance to Jordanoff Bay . Svilengrad ( bg, Свиленград; el, Σβίλενγκραντ; ota, Cisr-i Mustafapaşa) is a town in Haskovo Province, south-central Bulgaria, situated at the border of Bulgaria, Turkey and Greece. It is the administrative centre of the homonymous Svilengrad Municipality. Geography Svilengrad is close to the road borders of Greece and Turkey (supposedly one of the largest road customs in Europe).
