Suzi Lovegrove
Suzi Lovegrove (1955–1987) was an HIV-positive American-born woman whose battle with AIDS was chronicled in a landmark television documentary made at her request, entitled '' Suzi's Story'', which premiered on Australian television in 1987. Her son Troy contracted the virus while still in the womb, and died at the age of 7 on 3 June 1993. Suzi Lovegrove was originally an actress known as Suzi Sidewinder. In 1983, she had a small part in the film ''Get Crazy'', playing a member of Nada's band (Nada was played by Suzi's friend Lori Eastside, who later appeared briefly in ''Suzi's Story''). It was while promoting this movie, on a flight between the U.S. and Australia, where she met future husband Vince Lovegrove. The human immunodeficiency viruses (HIV) are two species of ''Lentivirus'' (a subgroup of retrovirus) that infect humans. Vince Lovegrove
Vincent James Lovegrove (19 March 194724 March 2012) was an Australian musician, journalist, music manager, television producer and AIDS awareness pioneer. He was a member of 1960s rock 'n' roll band The Valentines, sharing vocals with Bon Scott whom he later introduced to heavy rock group AC/DC. The Valentines (rock Band)
The Valentines were an Australian pop band active from 1966–1970, chiefly noted for their lead singers, Bon Scott, who later went on to great success as lead vocalist with AC/DC; and Vince Lovegrove, who subsequently became a successful music journalist and manager of Divinyls. Band history The band was formed in late 1966 with the amalgamation of Perth groups The Spektors and The Winstons. They capitalised on the success of both the former bands, plus the interest created by having two lead singers in Scott and Lovegrove. Divinyls
Divinyls () were an Australian rock band that were formed in Sydney in 1980. The band primarily consisted of vocalist Chrissy Amphlett and guitarist Mark McEntee. Amphlett garnered widespread attention for performing on stage in a school uniform and fishnet stockings, and she often used an illuminated neon tube as a prop for displaying aggression towards both band members and the audience. Originally a five-piece, the band underwent numerous line-up changes, with Amphlett and McEntee remaining as core members, before its dissolution in 1996. In May 2001, the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA), as part of its 75th-anniversary celebrations, named "Science Fiction" as one of the Top 30 Australian songs of all time.
