Suzanne Eagye Cox
Suzanne Eagye Cox (née Eagye) is a retired volleyball player who played collegiately for the Hawaii Rainbow Wahine volleyball team. She played for the team that won the 1987 NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament. Early years Eagye played basketball for Point Loma High School in San Diego. In one game, she scored 32 points in the first three quarters, then was taken out by her coach when the team had a large lead. She graduated in 1984. College Eagye was not heavily recruited, but Hawai'i head coach Dave Shoji–who had three national championships (1979, 1982, 1983) when he recruited her–would later talk about " Emily Hartong and Suzanne Eagye as examples of players who were not heavily recruited, but while playing at UH they worked hard and elevated their game". The Honda Sports Award is an annual award in the United States, given to the best collegiate female athlete in each of twelve sports. There are four nominees for each sport, and the twelve winners of the Honda Sports Award are automatically in the running for the Honda-Broderick Cup award, as the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year. American Volleyball Coaches Association
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is an organization of over 6,000 members, incorporated as a private non-profit educational corporation in 1981, as the Collegiate Volleyball Coaches Association. It is currently headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky. The original members of the AVCA were intercollegiate coaches who banded together to form this particular coaching body. In 1986, during the San Francisco convention, the membership recognized the growing and developing high school and club communities. The name of the association was then changed to reflect these growing constituencies. The original Collegiate Volleyball Coaches Association was renamed the American Volleyball Coaches Association with the intent of responding to and serving all volleyball coaches. The 1985 NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament began with 28 teams and ended on December 22, 1985, when Pacific defeated Stanford 3 games to 1 in the NCAA championship match. Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Volleyball
The Hawaii Rainbow Wahine volleyball team is the NCAA Division I women's volleyball team for the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. They are a member of the Big West Conference and are led by head coach, Robyn Ah Mow-Santos. The Rainbow Wahine volleyball program remains a large source of financial income for the University of Hawaii athletic department, notwithstanding even what FB and MBB generates. Grandfathered in, and straddling the line between the two governing bodies of the AIAW and NCAA, Joyce Kapuaala-Kaapuni started with Hawaii in 1974 (alongside USAV's 1970 World's participant Beth McLachlin). The 1984 NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament was the fourth year of the NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship. It began with 28 teams and ended on December 16 when UCLA defeated Stanford 3 games to 2 in the NCAA championship match. With her club Voléro Zürich she competed at the 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship The 2015 FIVB Women's Club World Championship was the 9th edition of the event.
