Suzanne Crowley
Suzanne Carlisle Crowley (born November 19, 1963) is an American children's book author whose books target a young adolescent audience. She is the published author of '' The Very Ordered Existence of Merilee Marvelous'' and '' The Stolen One''. Her debut novel, ''The Very Ordered Existence of Merilee Marvelous'' was an IRA Notable Children's Book, and was selected as the Book Sense #3 Top Children's Pick for Fall of 2007. ''The Stolen One'', her second novel, is an Indie Next List Pick for Fall of 2009 and a Best Books for Young Adults nominee. Early life Suzanne Carlisle Crowley was born in the small town of Uvalde, Texas and spent her childhood in Austin and Houston. Her father, Acree Carlisle, was an architect, and her mother, Corinne Orr, was a teacher and homemaker. She has two sisters, Bonnie and Karen. Uvalde is a city and the county seat of Uvalde County, Texas, United States. The population was 15,217 at the 2020 census. Uvalde is located in the Texas Hill Country, west of downtown San Antonio and east of the Mexico–United States border. Name Uvalde was founded in 1853 as the town of ''Encina'', but was renamed in 1856 as ''Uvalde''. Its name is a misspelling of the Spanish governor Juan de Ugalde (Cádiz, Andalusia, 1729–1816). Paisley (design)
Paisley or paisley pattern is an ornamental textile design using the ''boteh'' ( fa, بته) or ''buta'', a teardrop-shaped motif with a curved upper end. Of Persian origin, paisley designs became popular in the West in the 18th and 19th centuries, following imports of post–Mughal Empire versions of the design from India, especially in the form of Kashmir shawls, and were then replicated locally. Although the pine cone or almond-like form is of Persian origin, and the textile designs cramming many of them into a rich pattern are originally Indian, the English name for the patterns derives from the town of Paisley, in the west of Scotland, a centre for textiles where paisley designs were produced. In the mid- to late 1960s, paisley became identified with psychedelic style and enjoyed mainstream popularity, partly due to the Beatles.
