Suzanna Guzmán
Suzanna Guzmán (born in East Los Angeles, California) is an American mezzo-soprano and Emmy Award winning television host. Currently she is the host of the weekly radio program Opera at Noon and On Broadway on 105.1HD4 KMozart. She was also seen as host on television's KCET's weekly series ''Open Call''. As a singer she has performed with international and American opera companies as a principal artist: ''La traviata'' at the Metropolitan Opera, ''La favorite'' in Montpellier, France, and ''Goya'' at the Spoleto Festival in Italy. She is known for her portrayal of the title role in ''Carmen'' for Houston Grand Opera's multimedia production (known as the "MTV ''Carmen''"), a role she has performed more than 200 times. Deborah Voigt (born August 4, 1960) is an American dramatic soprano who has sung roles in operas by Wagner and Richard Strauss. Biography and career Early life and education Debbie Joy Voigt was born into a religious Southern Baptist family in 1960 and raised in Wheeling, Illinois, just outside Chicago. At age five, she joined the choir at a Baptist church and began learning the piano. Her mother sang and played piano at church while her two younger brothers sang in rock music bands. Those early experiences in church inspired her interest in music. When she was 14, her family moved to Placentia in Orange County, California. Giancarlo Menotti
Gian Carlo Menotti (, ; July 7, 1911 – February 1, 2007) was an Italian composer, librettist, director, and playwright who is primarily known for his output of 25 operas. Although he often referred to himself as an American composer, he kept his Italian citizenship. One of the most frequently performed opera composers of the 20th century, his most successful works were written in the 1940s and 1950s. The Washington National Opera (WNO) is an American opera company in Washington, D.C. Formerly the Opera Society of Washington and the Washington Opera, the company received Congressional designation as the National Opera Company in 2000. Patricia Lynn Racette (born 1965) is an American operatic soprano. A winner of the Richard Tucker Award in 1998, she has been a regular presence at major opera houses internationally. ''Giulio Cesare in Egitto'' (; , HWV 17), commonly known as ''Giulio Cesare'', is a dramma per musica ('' opera seria'') in three acts composed by George Frideric Handel for the Royal Academy of Music in 1724. ''Rigoletto'' is an opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi. The Italian libretto was written by Francesco Maria Piave based on the 1832 play ''Le roi s'amuse'' by Victor Hugo. Lise Lindstrom
Lise Lindstrom is an American operatic soprano. She is best known for the title role of Puccini's ''Turandot'' and also highly recognized in the dramatic repertory of Richard Strauss and Richard Wagner. Early life Lindstrom, whose grandfather was a Norwegian immigrant from Stavanger, was born in Alameda, California. She moved to Sonora, where she was raised, when she was 5. After graduating from Sonora High School in 1983, she entered San Francisco State University from which she graduated with bachelor of arts degree.
