Sutphin Boulevard–Archer Avenue–JFK Airport Station
The Sutphin Boulevard–Archer Avenue–JFK Airport station is a two-level station on the IND and BMT Archer Avenue Lines of the New York City Subway. It is located at the intersection of Sutphin Boulevard and Archer Avenue in Jamaica, Queens. It is served by the E and J trains at all times, as well as the Z train during rush hours in the peak direction. This station has four tracks and two island platforms, with two platform levels: E trains stop on the upper level while J/Z trains stop on the lower level. The station was planned as part of the construction of IND and BMT's Archer Avenue Line as outlined in the Program for Action in 1968. The construction began around 1982 and it was opened to service on December 11, 1988. Originally named Sutphin Boulevard, it served as a replacement for the former Sutphin Boulevard elevated station on the demolished segment of the BMT Jamaica Line two blocks north. E (New York City Subway Service)
The E Eighth Avenue Local is a rapid transit service in the B Division of the New York City Subway. Its route emblem, or "bullet", is blue since it uses the IND Eighth Avenue Line in Manhattan. The E operates at all times between Jamaica Center–Parsons/Archer in Jamaica, Queens, and the World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan; additional service during weekday rush hours originates and terminates at Jamaica–179th Street instead of Jamaica Center–Parsons/Archer. Michelle Alyssa Go (December 29, 1981 – January 15, 2022) was a 40-year-old Asian-American woman who, according to police, was pushed into the path of an oncoming New York City subway train, which caused her death. The suspect is Martial Simon, a homeless man who was subsequently arrested and charged with second-degree murder. BMT Jamaica Line
The BMT Jamaica Line, also known as the Broadway - Brooklyn Line is an elevated rapid transit line of the B Division of the New York City Subway, in Brooklyn and Queens, New York City, United States. It runs from the Williamsburg Bridge southeast over Broadway to East New York, Brooklyn, and then east over Fulton Street and Jamaica Avenue to Jamaica, Queens. Sutphin Boulevard (BMT Jamaica Line)
The Sutphin Boulevard station was a station on the demolished section of the BMT Jamaica Line in Queens, New York City. History This station was built as part of the Dual Contracts. It opened on July 3, 1918, * * * after the Atlantic Avenue Rapid Transit service was eliminated from Jamaica Station. The station closed on September 10, 1977, with the Q49 bus replacing it until December 11, 1988, in anticipation of the Archer Avenue Subway, and due to political pressure in the area. This station along with the 168th Street and 160th Street stations was demolished in 1979. However, on December 11, 1988, the MTA opened the Sutphin Boulevard – Archer Avenue – JFK Airport subway station, which served as the replacement station.
