Sussex Correctional Institution
The Sussex Correctional Institution (SCI) is located in unincorporated Sussex County, Delaware, near Georgetown. Opened in 1931, SCI, a part of the Delaware Department of Correction The Delaware Department of Correction is a state agency of Delaware that manages state prisons. It has its headquarters in the Central Administration Building in Dover. At one time the headquarters was located in Smyrna. Prisons * Delores J. B ..., is one of Delaware's oldest correctional facilities. SCI houses maximum, medium, and minimum security inmates. SCI also houses the Youthful Criminal Offenders Program YCOP. SCI houses an all-male population. A major expansion project was completed at SCI: between April 1997 and April 2000, 760 beds were added to the facility for a total capacity of 1,109 beds. Georgetown is a town and the county seat of Sussex County, Delaware, United States. According to the 2010 census, the population of the town is 6,422, an increase of 38.3% over the previous decade. Sussex County, Delaware
Sussex County is located in the southern part of the U.S. state of Delaware, on the Delmarva Peninsula. As of the 2020 census, the population was 237,378. The county seat is Georgetown.
