Sushasan Express
The ''Sushasan Express'', an Indian Railways train service launched to mark former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's 91st birthday, commenced operations on 25 December 2014. The train runs from Gwalior, the birthplace of Vajpayee, to Gonda, the workplace of Vajpayee Ji via and Lucknow. On 11 November the extended to Balrampur, where Vajpayee was elected for the first time to the Lok Sabha. It shares its rake with Gwalior–Pune Weekly Express. History The Express sported a special number, 01111, on its maiden run. Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister for Steel and Mines and the MP from Gwalior, cleared the train to depart Gwalior from platform #4 at 1:20 pm, 10 minutes behind schedule. According to senior railway officials, regular operation of the Sushasan Express (11111/11112) started on 31 December 2014 from Gwalior, and on 1 January 2015 from Gonda. The EMD GT46PAC or WDP4 is a passenger-hauling diesel-electric locomotive with AC electric transmission designed by Electro-Motive Diesel, General Motors Electro-Motive Division and built by both GM-EMD and under license by Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW) of Varanasi, India for Indian Railways as the classes WDP4, WDP4B and WDP4D. The Indian locomotive class WAG-7 is a class of 25 kV AC electric locomotives that was developed in 1990 by Chittaranjan Locomotive Works for Indian Railways. The model name stands for broad gauge (W), alternating current (A), goods traffic (G) engine, 7th generation (7). They entered service in 1992. A total of 1970 WAG-7 were built at CLW and BHEL between 1990 and 2015, which made them the most numerous class of mainline electric locomotive till its successor the WAG-9. Electric Loco Shed, Kanpur is a motive power depot performing locomotive maintenance and repair facility for electric locomotives of the Indian Railways, located at Kanpur of the North Central Railway zone in Uttar Pradesh, India. Operation Being one of the electric engine sheds in North Central Railway, various major and minor maintenance schedules of electric locomotives are carried out here. It has the sanctioned capacity of 150 engine units. Beyond the operating capacity, this shed houses a total of 243 engine units, including 15 WAP-4, 50+ WAP-7, 70+ WAG-7 and 90+ WAG-9. Like all locomotive sheds, CNB does regular maintenance, overhaul and repair including painting and washing of locomotives.
