Susanne Zimmer (born 9 June 1960 in Brønderslev) is a Danish politician, who is a member of the Folketing. She was elected in the 2019 Danish general election as a member of The Alternative. She is the co-founder of Independent Greens, though is an independent politician in the Folketing. Political career Zimmer was elected into parliament in the 2019 election as a member of The Alternative. In March 2020 S Zimmer and three other members of The Alternative left the party. The Folketing ( da, Folketinget, ; ), also known as the Parliament of Denmark or the Danish Parliament in English, is the unicameral national legislature (parliament) of the Kingdom of Denmark—Denmark proper together with the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Established in 1849, until 1953 the Folketing was the lower house of a bicameral parliament, called the Rigsdag; the upper house was Landstinget. North Zealand (Folketing Constituency)
North Zealand ( da, Nordsjælland) is one of the 10 multi-member constituencies of the Folketing, the national legislature of Denmark. The constituency was established in 2007 following the public administration structural reform. It consists of the municipalities of Allerød, Egedal, Fredensborg, Frederikssund, Furesø, Gribskov, Halsnæs, Helsingør, Hillerød, Hørsholm and Rudersdal. The constituency currently elects 10 of the 179 members of the Folketing using the open party-list proportional representation electoral system. Brønderslev is a city in Denmark with a population of 12,549 (1 January 2022). The city is the largest urban area in Brønderslev Municipality and is the municipal seat. It is the fourth largest city of Vendsyssel within the North Jutland Region. History The name of the town is derived from a local Norsemen chief, Brunder. Brønderslev was formerly known as ''Vester Brønderslev'', in contrast to the neighboring ''Øster Brønderslev''. As of 2020, Øster Brønderslev has a population of just 943. Vester Brønderslev was once a small farming village. In 1682, it consisted of just 27 farms and 47 houses. The town was not initially located on any major thoroughfares and saw very little traffic. The Alternative ( da, Alternativet) is a green political party in Denmark. The party was publicly launched on 27 November 2013 by former Minister of Culture Uffe Elbæk and Josephine Fock; Elbæk had been a parliamentarian for the Social Liberal Party. 2019 Danish General Election
General elections were held in the Kingdom of Denmark on 5 June 2019 to elect all 179 members of the Folketing; 175 in Denmark proper, two in the Faroe Islands and two in Greenland. The elections took place ten days after the European Parliament elections. The elections resulted in a victory for the "red bloc", comprising parties that supported the Social Democrats' leader Mette Frederiksen as candidate for Prime Minister. Uffe Elbæk (born 15 June 1954) is a Danish politician, social worker, author, journalist, entrepreneur. In 2013 he founded the green political party The Alternative, which he led until February 2020. He is an independent member of the Folketing. From 3 October 2011 to December 2012, he served as the Danish Minister of Culture.
