Susannah Townsend
Susannah Townsend, (born 28 July 1989) is an English field hockey player who plays as a midfielder for Canterbury. She was educated at Sutton Valence School, alongside Ashley Jackson, where together they each worked towards representing their country, England, in field hockey and is an Alumnus of the University of Kent. Townsend is openly lesbian. Club career For the 2020-21 season she has rejoined former club Canterbury who play in the Women's England Hockey League Division One South. Townsend has also played club hockey in Germany, in the Feldhockey Bundesliga for Der Club an der Alster, in Belgium for Gantoise and in the Investec Women's Hockey League Premier Division for Canterbury and Reading International career She competed for England in the women's hockey tournament at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where she won a silver medal. The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. 2017 Women's EuroHockey Nations Championship
The 2017 Women's EuroHockey Nations Championship was the 13th edition of the women's field hockey championship organised by the European Hockey Federation. It was held from 18–26 August 2017 in the Wagener Stadium, Amstelveen, Netherlands. The tournament also served as a qualifier for the 2018 Women's Hockey World Cup, with the winner qualifying. The Netherlands won their ninth overall title by defeating Belgium 3–0 in the final, while England capture the third place by beating Germany 2–0. England Hockey is the national governing body for the sport of field hockey in England. There are separate governing bodies for the sport in the other parts of the United Kingdom. History and organisation England Hockey was formed on 1 January 2003 to replace the English Hockey Association (EHA) which had had to suspend operations 2002 because of significant financial problems. Reading Hockey Club
Reading Hockey Club is a field hockey club based at Sonning Lane in the English town of Reading. It is one of the most successful clubs in the United Kingdom with National League and Cup honours. The Men's First Team play in the Men's England Hockey League and the Ladies 1st XI team play in the Women's England Hockey League. RHC runs 11 men's teams, 6 ladies teams and has a flourishing junior section. The ages of players range from 5 to 70+ years old. RHC has over 400 senior and nearly 550 junior members and is based at a top class facility in Sonning Lane, where they have been since 1984. The Women's England Hockey League is a field hockey league organised by England Hockey that features women's teams from England. From 2011-2020 it was sponsored by Investec and was referred to as the Investec Women's Hockey League. Format Regular season There are 62 teams in the league, the top tier consists of a Premier Division of 12 teams. Below this is tier two, which consists of two ten team Division One regional teams (North and South). Feldhockey Bundesliga (Women's Field Hockey)
The Feldhockey Bundesliga is the top level of women's field hockey in Germany and is organized by the German Hockey Federation. The league ranks second European women's league rankings. It was established in 1940. Format The season starts in August or September and is interrupted by the indoor hockey season from November to March. From April the outdoor season will be continued. Since the 2011–12 season the league was played by twelve teams who played each other twice and who competed for four spots in the championship play-offs.
