Susannah Morrisey
Susannah Morrisey (also Farnham) is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera ''Brookside'', played by Karen Drury. The character debuted on-screen during the episode broadcast on 22 July 1991. Susannah was created as the ex-wife of established character Max Farnham (Steven Pinder) and writers instantly used her to create problems in Max's marriage to Patricia Farnham (Gabrielle Glaister). Susannah's feud with Patricia and desire to reunite with Max formed the basis of her early storylines. Susannah's initial characterisation was only that of a mean, disgruntled ex-spouse but Drury decided to play her more sweet and snobbish. Susannah's persona allowed writers the versatility to create both tragic and comedic stories for her. Susannah's tragedies were formed via her difficult marriage to Max, family bereavements and poor mental health. Brookside (TV Series)
''Brookside'' is a British television soap opera, set in Liverpool, England. The series began on the launch night of Channel 4 on 2 November 1982, and ran for 21 years until 4 November 2003. Originally intended to be called ''Meadowcroft'', the series was produced by Mersey Television (now renamed Lime Pictures) and was conceived by ''Grange Hill'' and ''Hollyoaks'' creator Phil Redmond. ''Brookside'' became very successful and was often Channel 4's highest rated programme in the mid-1980s, with audiences regularly in excess of eight million viewers. Louis Emerick
Louis Emerick Grant (born 10 June 1960) is a British television actor. Biography He was born in the Toxteth area of Liverpool to a Liberian father and British mother. He is the youngest of ten children. He is best known for his portrayal of Mick Johnson in the soap opera ''Brookside''. He also played PC Walsh in 55 episodes of ''Last of the Summer Wine'' (1988, 1989, and 2004–2010). In 2003, Emerick was cast in four episodes of ''Casualty'' as Mike Bateman, the fireman husband of Tess Bateman (Suzanne Packer). Emerick and Packer had co-starred as a married couple on ''Brookside''. He has also had roles in ''New Tricks'', ''The Bill'', '' Benidorm'', '' Waterloo Road'', '' Cold Feet'' and '' Coronation Street''. He has appeared in films such as ''Layer Cake''. The British Newspaper Archive web site provides access to searchable digitized archives of British and Irish newspapers. It was launched in November 2011. History The British Library Newspapers section was based in Colindale in north London, until 2013, and is now divided between the St Pancras and Boston Spa sites. The library has an almost complete collection of British and Irish newspapers since 1840. This is partly because of the legal deposit legislation of 1869, which required newspapers to supply a copy of each edition of a newspaper to the library. London editions of national daily and Sunday newspapers are complete back to 1801. In total, the collection consists of 660,000 bound volumes and 370,000 reels of microfilm containing tens of millions of newspapers with 52,000 titles on 45 km of shelves.
