Susanna Gideonsson
Susanna Gideonsson (born 19 May 1963) is a Swedish trade union leader. Born in Umnäs, Gideonsson moved around Sweden with her family until they settled in Lycksele. She worked part-time delivering newspapers from the age of 14, when she joined the Swedish Transport Workers' Union. At the age of sixteen, she began working in the local woodworking factory, and in 1983, she was elected as leader of the joint committee of Swedish Trade Union Confederation (LO) affiliated unions in the town. After the factory was sold, she was unemployed for a period before finding work with the forestry service. In 1989, Giedonsson became the regional leader of the Swedish Social Democratic Youth League in Västerbotten, and through this joined the Swedish Commercial Employees' Union. Lycksele (; sma, Liksjoe; Ume Sami language, Ume Sami: ) is a Urban areas in Sweden, locality and the seat of Lycksele Municipality in Västerbotten County, provinces of Sweden, province of Lapland (Sweden), Lapland, Sweden with 8,513 inhabitants in 2010. Swedish Transport Workers' Union
The Swedish Transport Worker's Union ( sv, Svenska Transportarbetareförbundet, Transport) is a trade union representing workers in the transport industry in Sweden. History The union was created in April 1897 in Stockholm, as a split from the Swedish Heavy and Factory Workers' Union. It was organised by Charles Lindley. In 1900, it affiliated to the Swedish Trade Union Confederation. The union's membership reached 12,300 in 1907, then dropped back. The Swedish Firemen's Union and Swedish Seamen's Union both split away in 1914, and its membership then began growing. The Third Machinists' Union joined in 1923, and although the Swedish Automobile Drivers' Union left in 1924, it rejoined in 1927. The Port Workers' Union split away in 1972, and the Swedish Aviation Engineers' Union left in 1974. Despite this, membership reached an all-time high of 68,128 in 2005. The Swedish Trade Union Confederation ( sv, Landsorganisationen i Sverige ; literally "National Organisation in Sweden"), commonly referred to as LO (), is a national trade union centre, an umbrella organisation for fourteen Swedish trade unions that organise mainly "blue-collar" workers. The Confederation, which gathers in total about 1.5 million employees out of Sweden's 10 million people population, was founded in 1898 by blue-collar unions on the initiative of the 1897 Scandinavian Labour Congress and the Swedish Social Democratic Party, which almost exclusively was made up by trade unions. Swedish Commercial Employees' Union
The Swedish Commercial Employees' Union ( sv, Handelsanställdas Förbund, Handels), is Sweden's third-largest blue-collar union, with some 145,000 members, of whom around 25,000 are retired. Women make up over 70 percent of its membership. The union was established on 15 April 1906, with the merger of the Malmo Goods Exporters' Union, the Lunds Goods Carriers' Union, the Stockholm Dairy Farmers' Union, the Stockholm Bread Carriers' Union, and the Stockholm Beer Drivers' Union. Although it had only 682 members, it was able to employ a full-time president. In 1910, it joined the Swedish Trade Union Confederation. Söderhamn is a Urban areas in Sweden, locality and the seat of Söderhamn Municipality, Gävleborg County, Sweden with 11,761 inhabitants in 2010. Sports The biggest local sport is bandy. Luleå ( , , locally ; smj, Luleju; fi, Luulaja) is a city on the coast of northern Sweden, and the capital of Norrbotten County, the northernmost county in Sweden. Luleå has 48,728 inhabitants in its urban core (2018) and is the seat of Luleå Municipality (with a total population of 77,832). Karl-Petter "Kålle" Thorwaldsson (born 26 December 1964) is a Swedish union leader and politician who has served as Minister for Business, Industry and Innovation since November 2021. He was previously president of the Swedish Trade Union Confederation ( sv, Landsorganisationen i Sverige or ''LO'') from 2012 to 2020. Background Thorwaldsson grew up in the industrial village of Kosta, part of the Crystal glass manufacturing region in the Småland region. He was the son of a glass blower.
