Susan Le Jeune D'Allegeershecque
Susan Jane le Jeune d'Allegeershecque (; born 29 April 1963) is a British diplomat who, most recently, served as British High Commissioner to Canada from 2017 to 2021. She previously served as British Ambassador to Austria from 2012 to 2016. Life and career Educated at Ipswich High School for Girls, she took a BA degree from the University of Bristol and immediately joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1985. She served in London and at the permanent representation to the European Union, the High Commission in Singapore, and the Embassies in Venezuela, Colombia, and the United States. In 2007, she took over as Director of Human Resources at the Foreign Office, replacing Sir David Warren. She served there for four years until 2011, when she was replaced by Menna Rawlings. Excellency
Excellency is an honorific style given to certain high-level officers of a sovereign state, officials of an international organization, or members of an aristocracy. Once entitled to the title "Excellency", the holder usually retains the right to that courtesy throughout their lifetime, although in some cases the title is attached to a particular office, and is held only for the duration of that office. Generally people addressed as ''Excellency'' are heads of state, heads of government, governors, ambassadors, Roman Catholic bishops and high-ranking ecclesiastics and others holding equivalent rank (e.g., heads of international organizations). The High Commissioner of the United Kingdom to the Republic of Singapore is the United Kingdom's foremost diplomatic representative in Singapore. Singapore, previously a British colony, became an internally self-governing state in 1959 and George Douglas-Hamilton, 10th Earl of Selkirk, was appointed Commissioner (not High Commissioner) for Singapore and South East Asia. In 1963, Singapore declared independence from Britain and joined the new Federation of Malaysia. In 1965, Singapore left Malaysia and became an independent country (as the Republic of Singapore) and a full member of the Commonwealth. A permanent representative is a diplomat who is the head of a country’s diplomatic mission to an international organisation. Organizations that receive permanent representatives from their member states include the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, NATO, the European Union, the African Union, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and the Organization of American States. Dame Menna Frances Rawlings (''née'' Hornung; born ) is a British diplomat serving as British Ambassador to France since 2021. Previously British High Commissioner to Australia from 2015 to 2019, she then served as Director General of Economic and Global Issues at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office from 2019 to 2020. Career Menna Hornung read International Relations at LSE, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree, before joining the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1989. Sir David Alexander Warren, KCMG (born 11 August 1952) is a British diplomat, serving as HM Ambassador to Japan in the period 2008–2012. He retired from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in January 2013, and served as chairman of The Japan Society in London from 2013 to 2019. Biography Educated at Homefield Preparatory School when on Grove Road in Sutton, Surrey, Epsom College and Exeter College, Oxford, Warren joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1975. He studied Japanese between 1976 and 1978 at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, and at the British Embassy language school in Kamakura, Japan.
