Surjo Konna
''Surjo Konna'' ( bn, সুর্য কন্যা; English: Daughter of the Sun) is a 1975 Bangladeshi film starring Jayshree Kabir, Bulbul Ahmed and Sumita Devi. Indian veteran singer Sandhya Mukherjee sang the timeless hit song "Ami Je Andhare Bondini" for the film. Plot Lenin was an unemployed artist of a lower-middle-class family. He is the protagonist of the film who is not at all like the formula-heroes of the commercial genre. Most often Lenin roams around in his imagination; escaping his reality of lower-middle-class life. He fulfills his failure in his imagination. His clerk father wanted him to be a doctor. But instead of becoming a doctor, his son became an unemployed painter, who is still dependent on him. Alamgir Kabir (film Maker)
Alamgir Kabir (26 December 1938 – 20 January 1989) was a Bangladeshi film director and cultural activist. Three of his feature films are featured in the "Top 10 Bangladeshi Films" list by British Film Institute. Early life and education Kabir was born on 26 December 1938 in Rangamati. His parents originally hailed from Banaripara Upazila of Barisal. He completed the matriculation in 1952 from Dhaka Collegiate School and the intermediate in 1954 from Dhaka College. After completion of bachelors from the Dhaka University in physics, he went to England to study electrical engineering at Oxford University at the age of 22. Fazal Shahabuddin (4 February 1936 – 9 February 2014) was a Bangladeshi poet and journalist. He was awarded Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1973 and Ekushey Padak in 1988. Early life and career Shahabuddin was born in Dhaka in 1936. His poetry spanned four decades from the mid-60s until his death. Jayashree Kabir (; born 1952) is a Bengali film actress. She acted in around 30 films in West Bengal and Bangladesh. Career While studying in South Point School Jayashree Roy earned Miss Kolkata title in 1968. She got her first break from Satyajit Ray through the film ''Pratidwandi'' in 1969. She married Bangladeshi film director Alamgir Kabir and starred in two of his films, ''Simana Periye'' and '' Rupali Soikote'', which are regarded by the British Film Institute (BFI) as among the finest films to have come out of Bangladesh. Geetashree Sandhya Mukherjee (also spelled Mukhopadhyay; 4 October 1931 – 15 February 2022) was an Indian playback singer and musician, specialising in Bengali music. She received Banga Bibhushan, the highest civilian honour of the Indian state of West Bengal in 2011.
